Baja 30 OL w 496HO - procharge or raylar

Looking for a 30OL for a buddy right now, and he seems all hot and horny to add a procharger to a set of 496HO's, I'm kinda worried the 496 can't handle the procharger and the motor will be shot in no time.

Someone told me to look into a Raylar engine kit, stating that with the re-build it'll have more longevity.

Anyoen have any experience with this, and has anyone put raylar 496HO's into a 30OL?

As well, what are the raylar parts worth?

If you want a supercharged motor, go with the Whipple kit. The kit is the most complete and support after the sale cannot be beat.

If you want to stay N/A then I recommend the Raylar stuff, again good kit with great support.

You will see more horsepower and torque with the blower setup.

I don't think you can fit ProChargers in the bilge of a 30 Outlaw. It is extremely tight in there.

Raylar all the way.

also search Raylar in the General forum, just ask any Merc Tech what Whippling a HO will do, hmm, sounds a bit X rated in here.

How to supercharge a Mercruiser 496 ??

A properly prepared (all forged internals) Raylar w/Whipple 496 engine can "Kick butt and take names", There are a few in boats around the country that are working beautifully. We just don't recommend supercharging on a stock block 496 especially with some of the other units on the market that have no ECM reprogramming available versus Whipple who now has an excellent program for the Raylar w/Whipple supercharged engine specification that we worked with Dustin to develop. We would like to see more of these with Whipple's new 3.3 Supercharger on a Raylar prepared and equipped motor, now your talk'in!

Best Regards,
Ray @ Raylar
