515 C.I. Long block done FINALLY!
3 Attachment(s)
Here's a couple of pics of the assy.
Gapping rings with the torque plate on, the rotating assy done and my coated .060 pistons |

....And here are the studs and cometics and a shrink ride home!
Hopefully i'll pick up a little with this combo. I'd hate to spend all this money and go slower but that's the way my luck usually runs. Knowing what I know now I would have done the 540" in a second! |
Looks VERY nice.
Good luck and keep us posted. |
Looks great kenny-hoe!! Looks like a bravo destroyer for sure! Are you gonna make it to the air show?
|
I'm trying Brother! The engine gods are going against me right and left. It's something every time you turn around. I'll be burnt out before I ever get to the damn water.

I'm doing 540's in my new motors and if you are buying a complete rotating assembly you can buy a 540 for about the same price as a 502. There is no replacement for displacement! Cubic inches = Horsepower and Torque.

At first I didn't do it because of the computer/injector upgrade. after I got started on it I did the upgrade to make this one live. So I scrapped a set of pistons which I could have sold the rotating assy and recapped some of my 540 cost. LOng and short is It would have cost no more to do it than I have in this one.
I was just down there monday and he had a 502 Mag with a BIG procharger on it and I asked what he was doing. He said it made a little over 800 HP when they first did it a few years back but since that time there are some new injectors on the market that will allow for more fuel and the customer wanted to get the horsepower up. The engine looks great keep us posted. |

Here it is right before I spent 7 hours on electrical gremlins and 20 seconds of running before a wrist pin seized.
I swear I hate this mutherf*cker! P.S. Thanks To Eddie Young for his help Thurs. And hopefully this weekend. |
Kenny,
Hang in there brother. Once you get the small issues resolved and get to running it the smile will be back on your face. It sure looks good and I bet it will run even better. Good luck and keep us posted. Dock |
