242 islander or 23 outlaw

I am using this as a family boat on small lakes and rivers. Do they have the same hull. The 242 only does 59 mph with a 425 hp and the 23 should do close 70. Does the 242 ride as good as the 23.

Thanks

They are not the same hull. The 242 uses a 24 degree deadrise while the 23 Outlaw uses a 23 degree hull. I have good seat time in both and I feel like the 242 gets the edge on ride. It is a little heavier. The new 247 Islander is closer in hull design to the 23 Outlaw.

As far as speed, I think you are short cutting the 242 with an HO. With the right prop it should be over 60. I drove a mag boat(375hp) to 60ish on GPS with almost a full tank and a couple people on board.

You should really consider the 247, better family boat over the 242. Better layout, storage, porti potti. If you want pricing on either feel free to PM me. As for 23 Outlaw, very nice boat, cabin is going to be small. Most that look at a 23 on our lot usually end up buying a 26 Outlaw.

If you are considering the 23 Outlaw, I have a friend who will sell his. He is too busy in construction to use it anymore.

Thats a statement of opinion. I have the 242 and have been on the 247.

The 242 is a deeper boat and feels roomier. The head on the 242 is useable unlike the 247(unless your a midget). I can get down in the head on the 242 and move around, change clothes etc and there is enough room for two people to sit there. I don't even think I could get in the 247 let alone turn around.

The walkway on the 242 is very useful. No more walking on the sunpad. Plus the extended platform is included not an option like on the 247.

The layout of the 242 is one of the things I like about it. Gives you a nice changing room area and I agree that the walk through around the pad is a nice touch.

As with any boat, the only person that has to like it is the one that owns it. :cool-smiley-011:

Very true, it is a personal opinion, I would say for the individual to look at both and see the one they like.:D
