I'm trying not just to tear you down here, it is something new I'm trying. Please understand. If you could read that report was from WICHITA, not CHENEY lake. There is 30+ miles difference between the two. If you have ever been to Kansas you know it is really flat here & gets flatter West of Wichita.
I'm not retarded. I know the nose of my boat hangs about 4' above the water sitting still. If water breaks over the nose of the boat I'd say the waves were over 4'.
Now with that being said unless you were there you are guessing and making assumptions on your own experiences.
The park ranger that spoke with me today about the 3 people I fished out of the water Saturday was on duty that weekend & in his report he guestimated the wave heights to be 3-4'. It was his opinion. A professional who has been at that lake 15 years & is a native to Kansas.
Now, if you want to continue to doubt me, load up your wagon & head up here on the next similarly windy day & EXPERIENCE it for yourself. Otherwise get yourself a big cup of shut the f*ck up. :drink:

Is that somewhere along the lines of being a legend in your own mind?

Ocean waves are measured from Sea level-to wave crest...
so 4' wave gives you 4' of crest and 4' of trough- this equals 8' of wave "face"
....always confusing/often debated but pretty much standard definition -at least in the surfing world.

So, a true 2' wave has 4' of wave face. a true 3' wave has 6' of wave face.
On a lake same would apply, except the sea-level part.

That being said.... I doubt if you were in TRUE 4'ers, but 2-3'ers = 4-6' of wave face and seem pretty huge when your in them. That could easily break over your bow if you hit them just right (or wrong). That's bigger chit than I'd ever care to hang out in.

Take some video next time, so we can see what you saw.
