In 4' rollers, against the wind in a 29 Outlaw, alone.......well I had a chase boat.:evilb:
|
Right On, Dude! :D
I've had mine out in 4 to 5's with an occational probably 8' hole but could only get up to about 50 or so. They were rough chop, breaking, definately not rollers. That ride must have been a blast! :evilb: |
That's awesome man!
|
Where is the video?
|
Hum,
On the email you sent they were just 3 foot rollers! I guess by tomorrow they will be 6 feet!:evilb: Nice speed regardless. You can be very proud of that accomplishment.:ernaehrung004: |
Oh
P.S. "I'm packing my lunch"! |

You cannot gauge by size alone. It has to be SIZE + FREQUENCY. If they are 5 seconds apart then I would agree and call BS. But if they are 30 seconds apart then it is a GREAT ride. |

Rollers 30 seconds apart ? in a lake ???? are you kidding?
I clearly don't understand lake boat measurements or terminology. Are we not talking here about sea conditions? There is no such thing as rollers in a lake. There is wake and slop but not rollers. I assumed when he said 4 foot rollers he ran the boat in the ocean. The wind to make a four foot wake in a lake would be caused by a tornado and you could not boat. I'm not trying to be difficult but I assumed we were talking sea conditions here. |
Dock,
I agree with every thing you just said. You assumed he was in the ocean, I assumed since he from Grand Prairie he was in a lake. I don't know if it is possible to create a 4 foot roller in an inland lake. { Great Lakes not included of course} There must be a formula that includes wind speed and fetch to estimate size. I have to get back to work break is over. Dock, enjoy the rest of your day. |
The wind was right out of the south at 40 gusting to 50.
Ben the motorman was there along with a few others. Trust me, they were 4'. When I would idle they would break over the nose of the boat. I'd say they were about 15' apart, peak to peak. |
Jason,
If I wasn't harrassing you you'd think I was mad at you---I agree--you have done a good job on that boat and with the speeds you have run your pretty much on the top of the heap along with a few others!!! :ernaehrung004: Jay |

1) there are rollers on a lake..............their called cruiser wakes. Or atleast thats my lake terminology
2) I was at Texoma on Saturday and sunday in the same 25mph winds with 40mph gusts. Thats the biggest lake in TX and OK and I did see a 4-5ft chop with an occasional 6 in the middle of the main channel. I doubt any other lake in TX could have produced a 4-5ft chop. The waves were 3-5 seconds apart. I was good to get up to 50mph in the rough, but then again it was only my 3rd time to have the boat out. I did feel that it could have handled a lot more speed, and I probobly could have used a bigger set of balls. SOOOOOOOOOO if he hugged the shoreline I will say that is very plausible. Those speeds are very impressive nonetheless. Curious......which lake were you on???? |

Believe me I have a LOT of respect for the boating you guys do up in the Great Lakes. That seperates the men from the boys. After running Lake Erie twice now and and glad my lake is smaller. |

I have heard from a lot of folks that it does really get rough on Texoma and I would not be out there if the wind was blowing 40 to 50 MPH but with all due respect I find it hard to believe an inland lake can produce 6 footers (measured as they are in the ocean). |
Oh hell.......talked to Corp of engineer who sent me to a Texoma park ranger................who gave me an uneducated guestimate..........said it could have gotten up to 4ft on saturday and he's never seen 5's on Texoma. Also said he hadn't been stationed there very long. Also said there was currently a 2.5-3ft chop and its currently 18mph wind with 26mph gust. So I guess I was in 4's on the main channel of the biggest lake in TX.

Regardless of the actual size of the wake, roller or what ever the speed Jason got is impressive especially under the conditions. Be Safe! |
I was at Cheney lake in Kansas. 30 miles West of Wichita.

I can also tell you that is was so rough that 3 people got ejected from a sea-doo boat & were in the water for 2 hours before we found them. The wind was blowing so hard they couldn't catch the thing.
It was rough, if I get water comming over the nose of my boat at idle the rollers & believe me whatever you call them if they roll along & break over like surf they are big & no they ain't whitecaps, the water was BIG!!!! A friend had his 38 Tempest out & it had water coming in it too. The water was stupid big & stupid to be out on! No I wasn't up against shore either! |

I researched Cheney lake. That place is tiny.........less than 9,000 acres. Not even 1/10 the size of Texoma.............no way those were 4ft waves.

I can say I know 3-5's in a 29OL. Thats why I traded up to the 35OL. I used to get soaked or pounded in the ocean. You can run fast for inoy so long. After about a hour I would slow up but then the trips seems to drag on.
Jason you have done a grat job with your 29OL. A few hicups along the way but your having fun ...Right ?:evilb: |

Waves on a lake. Ever been to lake erie in buffalo 4-5' waves is a good day 7-8' then we think about going out. But 92 mph in a 29 in 4-5' that must have been a hell of a ride.
