Towing Baja 232

Hello folks,

I'm getting ready to purchase a Baja 232 and have question/concern regarding towing. I plan on towing this boat with a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee (4.0).

Boat weights 3900lbs + trailer (aluminum dual axles with brakes) + fuel (74gal) + misc. = 5000 to 5500lbs

Anybody have any advice and/or recommendations about this setup?

Have the same boat with a 454. I weighed it on a scale with a full tank of gas and it weighed 5500 pounds. Tow it with a Suburban and have no problems. I can't comment on the jeep, but it would seem that power wouldn't be the problem, just braking.

I tow with a full size ford f-150 V8

I too have a 232 which weighs in at just over 5,000lbs. My f-150 tows it JUST O.K. its very slow up hills and VERY HARD on the tranny...

Your question also depends on how often, how far,and up how many hills you will have to tow..

I thought about towing with my G/f's 99 eddie bauer explorer v8 and it was a joke.. THe suspension and tranny are not up to the task.

Sure, your jeep will tow it, but lets just say that in my opionion NOT VERY WELL and who knows for how long...
