Any input would be appreciated my boat rides very high my prop is 7 1/2 below bottom what is the best depth and does any body have this type of a set up,only two weeks in the water 65gps 23pitch 5500 rpm should turn 6, ran a 28 pitch only got 5000 and 60mph

HI your drive is to deep, try a 3'' shortie , because you have a 8'' set back with the ITS DRIVE right?? I have a 2'' shortie no box I gainedabout 4mph better ride to. I also put 380s k planes on. I have a little over 650 hp with the carb I have now. at 5000 rpm with a 28p prop with 1.5 gears you should be at 76 gps or more if you are set up right. tell us more on your set up motor dynoed? k planes?

5500rpm with a 23 what? and 5000rpm and 60mph is way off your slip # must be 30 or something, I have mine at about 12 to 14 which is real good for a v. you could be at 78 with the right set up or more.

If it's 7.5" below the bottom of the boat with
ITS, 4 blades are never going to be the fastest.

3" shorty should be about right...you then can
be able to run 4 blades and have your top end too.

I appreciate all the input so fast this is better than getting kicked around by our member Activator who really dosen't like Baja boats, claimes my boat is a battel ship and a famly boat and i am dreaming. I purchesed it used with 50 hours on it is a merlin product built by Teague cmi ex rated by teague as 620 i never questioned it. I can be seen on sharkey marine photo in the Atlantic City Poker Run o8 inshore part two pic#288 or so blue and white. 3 inch shorties are they aviable in a bare unit that i can put my gears in, Imco said only 2 inch.

3" do have a clearance problem with the stock
upper, don't know why the gears would be any different.

2" are a direct bolt on to a stock upper, but thats going to
only net you 5.5".

3" would probably work the best, but 2" will help too.

My mistake my 65mph GPS is knots so that is 75 mph, was out with my kids today and my daughter said felt like 80mph and turns out she was not to far off. this means when I dial this thing in with a shortie I should pick up a few.

Hi yes the 3''you get it bare with the vertical short shaft thats included, I bought the 1st one for $1870 and that was bare with the shaft 2'' then after it was stolen with the drive ,I bought the polished one $2000 wish I went 3'':mad:, you should go with the 3'' if you can cause of the set back by the its box. I paid 500 to have them changed. my boat has hit 83gps its a 1988 with a ol fairing no windshield theres a thread pics of my boat on page 2 I need to up date it with pics. if you want to see what I have in it.it should be back on the water in aug ,I am having a bulkhead replaced wear the back seat is, its going straight up to the top of the gunnel and making a new lite weight seat, already have custom bolsters. post back if you want a deal on the 3'' shortie I will give you a phone # art

Rich I KICK THE CHIT OUT OF MY FRIENDS 24 SUPERBOAT for years he has a 79 with a trs 502 with 525 to 575hp never dynoed and the newer ones with a bravo run 80 with 550hp in them hes at 76gps ,whats funny I pull away from him if its rough out over 3 footers and he is all over the place at 65 to70. I will keep it at 75 with the tabs 380s level we have run each other since 1992 back then he had a 330 I with a 502, in 1994 or 95 my motor was being built late and he installed a galebanks twin turbo for one season 550hp[ left over from a jet boat he had] we think and so the 2 boats were not together and if we were he might of got me I was at 585hp for a couple years:p, he gets ahead of me from a standing start he punches it and I go slow until 3000rpm so not to blow the drive:eek:. so hes in front for a 1/2 mile:p. So for me to have my baja 240sport ol for 18 years and still being in one piece there a good boat handle the rough as good or better than most 24/25/26/27 foot boats I GO TO ALL THE CAPE ISLANDS plus BLOCK ISLAND, MONTUCK NY [sp] not sure:p in real rough water beat a lot of bigger boats racing in the ocean but there is always someone faster:p my 1st race was against a formula 270 twin 260hps beat him and in 5 minutes a 35 formula with blowers walked by me haa hah waved and turned around ,he was the nav for the 1st outerlimits race boat that harry turner owned later in 94 TEAM OBSESSION B CLASS I got a ride in that thing its was a 37ol. loved it. got to go. art
