Well, by no means a mechanic and after reading many many other threads about engine builders and troubles and such, I think a nice 525SC would be great (old school-got gas, got spark, low boost, sound great!). I have a 496mag ho in my 25 Outlaw. I do not want a 500 or 525EFI (I know-closed cooled 525, smart craft to protect the engine but not sure again that is what I really want). Seems like these motors may be impossible to find (not sure what the clearances are and if it would even fit). We trailer with our boat 24/7 so the expenses of diesel there and back and hotels and meals while out of town, trailer maintenance, boat maintenance, yada yada, this boat works for me quite well (and a blast to run in some choppy water!)Anyone ever see one used, low hour?

You may be able to find one out of an older boat, I would recomend pulling your 496 and send it to Raylar for the 550 package.
