Matt,

Great to hear from you my friend. I'm really looking forward to doing another long weekend trip to the river this summer and you will have every opportunity to invite yourself for a ride!:evilb:

Tell Ali hello and I hope you and your family have a blessed Christmas.

You never know what the weather will be like around here. It was actually 17 degrees at my house this morning and I came in to an email from X-Driver that said it will be 60 degrees next weekend. We may get some more on the water time yet this year.

Come on down!

boatman22 12-22-2008 04:04 PM

It was 81 Sat, and then it dropped to 34 today...70's this weekend, might have to take the "Wet Spot" out for spin.....:D

Looks good Doc, Hey I was thinking about sending down two samples so you can see what the carpet feels like and looks like at 88oz come paired to the regular 40oz that everyone uses. and both have different fades to them. plus a check to send ship them back or to XT then back to me.:D what do you think.

Send the carpet but do not send a check. I will cover shipping and I will be glad to forward it to Dave and Lane at XT. I'm really looking forward to see it.

Thanks and Merry Christmas

Give Adam, or me a call sometime and we will get to work on that Bullet rigging job for you. I also got a call from "All In" to look at re-doing his 35 Fountain cockpit interior after the first of the year.

XT:cool:

yschmidt 12-23-2008 11:12 PM

I have been meaning to, but have been trying to survive the motors and my work schedule. I will call you guys after the Christmas holiday.

Dock Holiday 12-29-2008 11:36 AM

Hey I hope you all had a very nice Christmas. I’m been a little out of touch which was all good and glad to be back in the groove.

I got a chance after church yesterday to get back on the boat and check some things out. I spent a lot of time at the helm and have to say that the new aggressor bolsters are the bomb and Dave got them in exactly the right place. I’m still finding new stuff every time I flip a switch on the dash panel. The way it all is wired up is really sweet compared to before and I could not be happier. I just have to find who can do me some custom switch covers or maybe I need to just do some type of sticker to get everything labeled. Any ideas on that are appreciated. The triple rear bolster is so comfortable that I would be just as happy as a passenger as the driver. I would love to see the wife drive more but she would rather ride and not worry about watching gauges.

Found the problem with the GPS speedo, yeah the wire was cut I’m guessing to shorten it and make the rigging nicer and a great splice job was done but according to Livorsi you CANNOT cut and shorten the cable. THYE WILL NOT WORK IF YOU DO! Oh well I will order a new antenna and solve that problem.

The wife and I spent about two hours on the boat yesterday in the garage enjoying the stereo and the LED lights and we are really digging this new setup.

Tomorrow looks like a SUNNY 62 degree day and I just may try and get back on the water and try her out one more time before 2008 is over.

I’ll keep you posted.

socalstone 12-29-2008 12:31 PM

Man it is gorgeous out today as well. no wind and good sun. I'm tempted to get out for a little while just get a fix. Tomorrow may be even better.

Yes I was just outside with one of my salespeople thinking the same thing. It is short sleeve weather. I had to be in the office today and the forecast looks even better for tomorrow so I hope I can pull a trip off to the lake tomorrow afternoon.

I'll post in the morning if we are going to make it out.

JaayTeee 12-29-2008 12:41 PM

It's a blistering 42* here today....had to go outside
to unload a truck, and almost broke a sweat.

If the water wasn't hard, and if I had engines
in my boat, I'd be going out too:D

Port engine was starting to loose a head gasket,
so rather than dealing with them in the boat,
I yanked them out.

Tore one partially down, the other one is a nice
conversation piece sitting in the shop.

I am waiting for all of the holiday BS to get
over and I'll start hammering on them.

Probably will also do a freshing up...rings, bearings,
check the valvetrain... nothing too major.

I'm resisting the urge to throw in a good hyd roller
cam and getting them up around the 700 hp range.
....we'll see how good I do on that.

Well no trip to the lake tomorrow. We're building a new shop here at home and the contractor wants to meet tomorrow afternoon. The slab is down, the block and lumber were delivered today. They are ready to rock and roll but he has a problem with the size of the overhead doors I want. Oh well we were delayed by rain almost two weeks so I had better not keep him waiting so we can get this framed up and in the dry soon.

Boy, you two are being a lot of help....kind of
like asking a drunk if he needs another drink:drink:

I need to get these two back in order first.

I've been thinking of trying to find a couple
of decent orphans and make something out of them,
something that will have a more efficient supercharger
setup than what is on the 575's.....and some orphan drives, and props, and whatever else the project will entail.

You have intercoolers on yours already right?

Hey glad we can be of help. Jason is a swell guy. Everytime he calls me I feel smarter when he hangs up!:evilb:

JaayTeee 12-31-2008 08:29 AM

No intercoolers.

The engines are mounted soo high, the rear studs
on the flame arrestors rub on the bottom of the hatch.

I had to replace those with a flat allen head screw
arrangement I concocted up, to keep them from
wearing into the bottom of the hatch.

And after having scoops on the hatch I made for the 29
and having to babysit it every time we rafted up,
scoops are out.

I could make spacers for the hinges, but then you
get into other support issues.

Whipples and intercoolers would fit, no problem.

Sorry but I would have to go for the scoops. That is the best upgrade you can do for the 575's is the intercooler.

I understand and having never had scoops they seem okay but would probably be hard to live with. I got tied of handling the stearn lines on Split Decision after one day of crawling around on the custom engine cover with a wing on the back of it!

Will you have those custom air boxes installed this year?

They've been on it.....the cosmetics of them continue
to be a work in progress though.

That's another thing on the "to do" list to finish.

Hey just a word of advice.

SCREW it all and just have Adam hook up 200 LED lights and it will take your mind off of everything!

I'm digging those LED's more then anything else!

Yes you only live once and good or bad you can say "I DID IT".

I was inspired by Bobby Todd, Jason Smith and JaayTeee.

I'm not sure about LOTO yet.

Nice job and not to butt in. I could be wrong about your new motors but it looks as if in the pictures you are using that older style 1 piece plastic impeller housing if not great. Mercruiser changed it over to a brass housing that is so much more reliable. Over the years Mercusier OEM was a 2 piece plastic housing that was the 1st one out, then later went to a 1 piece plastic impeller housing which looks like what you have in the pics I see. I would upgrade to the newer style brass housing through OEM or get one of Teague's upgraded style and of course you know CP Performance they have them also. This housing is much more stronger and more reliable also the impeller itself is splined different than the one used for the plastic housing so you will need the newer style impeller also. The bridge inside that plastic impeller housing is weak so if it breaks before the impeller it knocks out the impeller and of course everyone on this board should know how inportant impellers are and their housings. Also it seems when a impeller lets go in the brass housing you can just about retrieve all the broken pieces of the impeller blades right there in the housing instead of the older style having broken blades hung up through out the cooling system. A lot less back flushing and trying to gather all the broken blades from the brass housings is what I have seen on the many units that we change out weekly compared to the plastic units. (FYI) If I am wrong about yours pics and what you are using then you got a handle on it. Also Wix oil filter good or switch over to a Amsoil EaO, Stay away from Fram. Good luck enjoy your almost new boat.

Thanks for the reply.

I bought the brass pumps but we had a fitment problem and the pulley did not match up to the bolt pattern on the pump. We were already over budget and with machining time and expense I elected to go back with the stock Merc pumps. I have yet to have an impeller failure now with three performance boats over 10 year and 1000 hours of operation so I feel confident with them.

Maybe someone that does custom boat work could come up with some retractabele scoops. I have no Idea how they would work but if you could get them to recess in the sunpad and then pop up when you were running it might be the best of both worlds.

While at first I thought this idea was a little out there I will say after some consideration is is not a bad idea. I can easily see a sun pad modified with removal scoops that could be pulled off easy and replaced with a matching sunpad insert for sun bathing and when you are docked up.

Who knows maybe that is the item of the decade you should get a patend on.

I say anything is possible. Im sure if Nortech wanted this option they would make it happen. Just look at their retractable hard tops!

JasonSmith 01-02-2009 06:38 PM

There is already an option like that & it is a Baja option. Look at the headrests on the new stuff. They have big holes that go right over top of the intakes. 3 of them to be exact. Put some hinges on them *****es & some small screw jacks & viola, retractable hinges.
