Glad to hear it buddy. That will be a great trip!

Hey I have never riden with Blane in a car before except when I was driving, but I would be a little concerned with a guy that carries his own race suit and helment with him everywhere he goes!

Doc

That has to be a blast. How fast do they let you drive there, and how much "training" is involved?

The only problem with that track is there are no speed bumps for Blaine to jump! I hope Hertz, Avis and Enterprise arent reading this thread! :party-smiley-004:

Out of the 22 people that went down together with Poker Runs America the fastest speed posted in our group was 143 and that was by Blane. We actually had two women drive over 120 MPH. There is very little training and you have to follow a lead car. If you push him he will let you go faster up to around 140. In the ride along cars you ride at 160 MPH. Everyone that did the ride along first ran faster when they got behind the wheel. I wish now I had done that but I paid for my ride and for Blane's ride since he let me drive the Donzi in the poker run and did not want to invest more.

Come on down and I'll take you down there and do it again with you. I need to get Tommie to do the ride along she would love it.

Take note of my car #45.

Horses and a Stage Coach!

Alright the big brown truck showed up this morning with the weapons of choice.

I really want to thank Brett at BBlades. He is by far one of the most knowledgable folks I have ever spoke to about props. What seperates him from the others is his experience with Mercury Racing for many years and his knowledge of the individual hull brands and what it takes to make them run. He especially knows and understands the Baja true vee and I will be very surprised if we don't get to add the "90 MPH" club logo permanently after we try these.

Jason this is a great idea and I will be happy to contribute. $$$

How about we add the year and the names of the folks in the club?

Then we can update it again in a year or so. Just an idea.

Thanks and enjoy this beautiful weekend.

Well the wife and I just got back home yesterday from a five day motorcycle ride to Florida and it's time to get busy on the boat again in hopes of being in the water this Saturday for the official "90+ MPH Club".

My to do list:

1) install mufflers
2) install new props
3) install new hydraulic steering system filter
4) bleed hydraulic steering
5) buy more sunscreen

Quinlan 05-04-2009 03:57 PM

Forget the sunscreen and the Mufflers and you are half way there!!!

Nice work Doc

Dock Holiday completed the 30th poker run in Jacksonville this month!

At 90 we would have only been 25 MPH slower than the fastest boat in Jacksonville back in 2002 when Dock Holiday entered her first poker run. At 90 today we are 80 MPH slower than several boats that were there. My have times changed!

We all stayed over on Sunday to ride some more and these are from Sunday so don't bust me for no PFD's.

The young fellow with us is Chris who manages our Salisbury store. This is his second poker run with us and he had a BLAST!

Thanks again to Jeff & Sonya "Steel Outlawed" who are a fantastic crew.

You coming up to help pull the engines out?

Okay we are going to start phase II of the Rebirth of Dock Holiday.

I plan to pull the engines soon and polish the valve covers and the blowers. While they are out for polishing we will also address some oil leaks we have around the oil pan gaskets on both engines.

Then I have a steering issue that is driving me crazy. We have changed filters and bled the system to the point that we have driven up the price of transmission fluid on the world market. I have had several conversations with Latham and we are pretty sure at this point that the hose extensions are causing a problem and that we have an issue with the pump at the helm. So I plan to do what I wanted to do from day one and did not have the funds $$$ at the time. I just ordered two complete IMCO transom assemblies with the built in steering rams and we are going to upgrade the complete system to IMCO with all new components. The number one reason is safety, number two is the added strength, number three is for the look and number four is to get the new helmet for the SCX drives.

Chrome won't get you home, but it looks good even when what it is on is broke.
I'm just jealous of the SCX's you are getting.

brian41 06-20-2009 07:02 AM

Doc, I am installing a set of SCX's on a 39 Cigarette with 700 Zul's next week. I will let you know how they turn out.

c_deezy 06-20-2009 07:17 AM

Jeez those drives look awesome.

Smitty 06-20-2009 08:13 AM

Are you going to add the extension boxes also??

ozarkdevil 06-20-2009 08:42 AM

What is the deal with both oil pan gaskets leaking , how many hours since the rebuild?

Brian I have a friend that put them on a 36 Apache this season and he is THRILLED with the results. He tried several props and once he went with the Maximus five blades he was planning easy and just as fast as the Bravo XR 4-blade set up he replaced. With WOT runs they have not seen any drive temps above 140 degrees.

Well that is a really good question.

The oil pans are made by Baker and are a real high quality part. However they have some notches cut in the lip of the pan on both sides which expose the gasket. For some reason they are not sealing properly at those locations. We have done a little southern engineering with silicone but just cannot get them sealed up 100% and it makes a real mess in the bilge.

Thank you Thank you Thank you

We are sure proud of the boat. I hope that we are as lucky as my buddy with the Apache and don't see a speed loss!

TEAMBAJA 08-03-2009 05:42 PM

Just looking at some pictures.......
......................................so ttt!!

Dock Holiday 08-05-2009 12:17 PM

Sorry for the delay in responding. My grandmother passed away last Thursday and I'm just returning from Arkansas after attending the services and trying to get caught back up. I went alone because the wife is actively involved in Relay for Life and this was their big weekend. So I rode the Harley out and set a one day distance record for me of 705 miles on Saturday and I did the whole 850 miles yesterday on the return trip and arrived home last night at 11:39pm. I want to thank Matt "HaulinVols" for his assistance in Knoxville last night during a very large thunderstorm I got caught in.

Now for the boat I have received a lot of really nice goodies from a company called IMCO.

I have also been in close contact with a new start up business in Bucyrus, Ohio and will be taking the boat back up there at the end of the month.

I'll keep you posted!
