Didn't have to do anything...The tape is to keep the 4200 off the boxes when it squirts out.

I'm putting them on the inner side of the stringer on both sides. I had room down there.

Is a 29OL tighter in the engine compartment?

JasonSmith 03-30-2010 11:08 AM

Better make sure you can get the sea water pumps off with them there.
I was going to put mine there too, but found out I couldn't get to the pumps without taking the strainers out 1st.

I don't think Dave has to worry about that he takes the engines out every year! and usally puts bigger ones back in.:lolhit:

LOL I'm ahead of schedule this year. I've got my 500's forsale now.

One in the cruiser and one in the Baja you'd be set!

Now Dave, you have to know that if that happened we couldn't possibly make any of the runs we have planned this year! Not to mention......hello.....the cruiser is called "She Said So", so nothing is happening to "my" boat without asking me first!:lolhit::kiss:

WTF? Are you serious? Are the 496's going back in or do you have yet another blue motor?

Looks good though!

496's are long gone...I got a plan I'm just hoping I can pull it off. Those 500's would look good in that 342 Keith :drink:

The question is "why"?
Closed cooling & aluminum heads are the only benefits I can see & that isn't that big of a determining factor in my book.
I'd rather have the 500's. They have the MEFI3 or 4 computer which is an easier one to re-program.
Then again, I like to change stuff so that may not be Irish's bag.

Well extension boxes are on and transom assemblies back on got a few things left to hook up with the steering and drives, but otherwise a completed project.

Twin-Kyle 05-05-2010 07:09 AM

You are keeping the 500's Dave or are they being replaced with something else???

Baja_man 05-05-2010 07:28 AM

The 500's are in....I guess his "other" deal fell thru. His 500's look nice though!

I'm planning to go to Jobbie this summer so can't wait to see the finished product. I need to get my I68 so I can land on US soil without a trip to the slammer!!!

Missed you this summer Kyle. Hope you can join us this year.

Guess I never did do a follow up on how things turned out. This was definitely a 100% improvement in ride and handling. I'm not sure exactly what improved my speed, but after adding the boxes and Imco -2 shorties along with the 500's I'm running a solid 81 mph on GPS. Still have some prop testing to do and some tweaking I'm shooting for mid 80's with this setup.
