You just have a lot of wear and its time to rebuild the transom assembly. Good luck |
i just dont touch the wheel. mine weaves back and forth a little but never looses its course. i would have huge arms if i tried to steer out of it. but i have yet to have a boat that didnt do it. crestliner, wellcraft, forester, maxum. all did it

Steering or gimbal most likely. Good luck |
This is when it sucks only being around home on the weekends. I can't run out to the shop and play in the evenings.

To eliminate one, I would grab the steering arm inside the boat and check that for play. That should be perfectly tight, if not, its time to start a project.

This is depressing as my new to me boat has this to some extent. I'll have to have it checked out.

My H2X does the same thing, I do as smitty said and find the center point and leave it alone.
Most will do this.. I find the center point and it will hunt left to right a bit but leave it do its thing.. Its anoying and you want to correct it but it will just over react. better to find center and let it do its thing.. takes some getting use to. I dont know but full hydrolic steering might help... there could be some play in the steering. I am installing a new 600hp engine this week in my 24 outlaw and will need new steering. Will let you know after a sea trial if the hydrolic steering corrects this problem. Happy boating ! :evilb: |
well I finally got back to the house and got to look at this. It seems that the piston is what actually has the extra play in it. I got inside of the boat and had someone move the out drive from side to side while I watched inside to find the play and it is in the piston. Everything else feels tight. I have done some looking and cant find anyway to adjust this. Does that mean it is time to replace the piston? I am going to try and remove it this weekend and see if there is anything I can do to tightnen this, I was hoping someone might have some experience with this and could help me out. When I looked in the Bravo 1 manual I have the later style power steering not earlier.
Thanks, |
After furture reseach on the internet and reading some articles sounds like there might be air in the system. Does this sound right?
