i found a set with removable baffles, i think it was from eddies, i wrote it down, i will be ordering them, they have internal flappers and do to where we have to dock the boat i will put externals on as well. its bad spot on the lake, we snap lines all the time and the stern gets stuffed allot. thanks allot for all your help, i will post pics when we are all done.

Just look behind you when you're coming off plane and check out the size (height) of the stern wake. On my 33 the size of that wake is amazing.
I never, ever, ever let that stern wake catch up to me when coming off plane.

You guys worry too much. I've shut off my engines while on plane just to prove water won't get into the engines.
While not a good idea, it just goes to show you how hard it is to make happen.

Well, not really.
I've never broken an engine. I've had computer tune issues that have kept me sidelined a few times, but nothing out of the normal for a guy who is doing 99% of his own work after the "Professional" Tyler Crockett ripped me off.
I've broken a few drives.
I've had a water hose burst.
Other than that no, I'm not always broken down. Old man Jay (never enuff) likes to give me sh!t about being broke because every time I've gone to Lake Travis I've had an issue. I've had an issue there because it is always the 1st run of the season & I've always changed something over the winter & used Austin as the shakedown run.

A 90+ boat is not for the weak at heart, If he wanted turn key he would have left it stock. Speed cost money.....a risk reward thing.

Came across this thread and seemed to be the place to post this Q…

just bought my in-laws 1990 Baja 250es from them. Father in law had a blower 496 in it with wet exhaust but straight pipes through the hull. No wet sump “muffler”.

we are swapping the carb 496 blower for a 2004 496 Mag HO efi as I am bringing out to salt lake and we have too much elevation changes…

question being- while the engine is out- are you all running straight thru hull with either flapper tips or the “silencing” baffled tips or do you have the wet sump muffler in the engine compartment?

Utah has a muffler required law and wondering if just adding the external baffled tips would do the job or if I need to be rethinking adding the OEM muffler style??? Thoughts would be appreciated!
