I was looking to get a few more mph and keep the r's up with hte labbed 28. Sold the boat before I was able to test. I would trim the heck out of my 29 as well for max speed. |

Get a double cup on the prop. Also if you get the boat going faster it will lift out of the water and the wedges will be out of the water. Mine free's up after about 62.

Dave, I took a couple of pics. The hook dosen't look as big as in person but you get the idea. Mine also doesn't go all the way to the bottom of the V. Just right in front of the tabs.

You guys are wasting money taking that hook out. I do not believe it will make the difference you think it will. I do think that at best it will give you 1 mph up top, if it does that.
The best thing to do is run with your tabs in the water. I run with mine a touch negative along with the drives in neutral trim position for 99% of my cruising. When it gets rough, drop the drives & when it gets really rough kick in some more tab. These hulls need negative tab input! You can adjust the ride of the boat by moving more weight forward. especially in a 302. They are ass heavy to begin with & that is what makes them ride nose high. They are not balanced correctly. By balancing the boat correctly you will run faster, more comfortable & more level. For guys like Indy & myself, taking that hook out will do nothing. Our boats at speed run with that portion of the bottom out of the water, for the most part. Don't believe me? Here is my boat at 90+ at the LOTO Shootout this past week & another from Lake Perry 2 years ago . Flat & fast. |

Here's mine running at Cumberland last summer and Lake St.Clair...Runs flat, but porpoises like a MO FO! I do run slight negative trim basically where the tab touches a level on the bottom of the boat and the trim about 3-4 clicks up...Now maybe putting boxes and shorties will help I don't know..I'm going to go for it and see where it takes me..

If it porposises, trim the drives down. My 29 never has taken much trim to get it running fast.
From the looks of the pictures, you have the drives trimmed up a good ways, but it is hard to tell without driving it. |
