aftermarket swim ladder
I am looking for a aftermarket swim ladder that can be bolted onto my aluminum swim platform. The boat is a 1999 Baja 29 Outlaw. The boat did not come with a swim ladder and it is not fun climbing back aboard after swimming. Any ideas on a good product? Any clue as to who the original manufacturer of these was for Baja? I really do not want to weld anything. I prefer to bolt it underneath the swim platform.

- Here is what I bought and the exact one Baja used. I can help you with how to do it if you buy this one. |

I can get this style ladder like I did for this 25 Outlaw, but your swim platform must have the alum. mounting brackets welded into the design? Most 98' 99's did not.
Price is $200.00 ea. XT |
Mine didn't have the plates welded on but I was still able to mount it nice and neat.

both of the swim ladders look like what I am looking for. Thanks. I need to look at my swim platform tomorrow evening to see if it has the brackets you mentioned. As far as the windline product is concerned, can I use some threaded "u" brackets and use them to bolt onto the platform rather than having to drill into the aluminum?

West Cost Offshore Only can custom make you one. They just did one for me. It came out pretty nice.

The spacing for the Tubes matched up perfectly to the ladder holes so all I did was pull the black rubber piece out (easy to take out and put back in) drilled thru. the tube for 3/8" holes then counter drilled the top of the holes for socket head cap screws. Then used nylon lock nuts on the bottom side and put the black strips in. Done

Outstanding information. Thank you very much. I am going to the boat this evening and measuring the platform to verify the dimensions on the Windline ladder. If all looks good I will order it on-line tomorrow. Thanks again...

let me know if you need any more help if you go my route!

Hey Mike. The swim step looks great! From the photos it looks like you're on the water. Did you get the boat done?
I haven't got the new step on mine yet. I have to drill new holes and plug old ones so I may wait until this winter to do it. I want to go external steering too so may do it at the same time. Going to be in Dana Point this weekend and run to Long Beach for lunch on Saturday if you're interested in meeting up. -Al |

Hello there, finally got the boat going. It runs strong and looks good. I was going to hook up with you, but the family wanted to go a long with another family, so we ended up at the lake. Next two weekends i will overseas, but once i get back, i will get a hold of you and get together for Catalina run, if interested.

Hey Mike.
Yes, that should be good timing for me. My boss is taking his fish boat to San Diego for a few days so he is letting me use his slip in Dana Point. Where are you going to launch from? I can run up the coast to Long Beach but would prefer Newport. Or maybe you can launch at LB and run down to Newport and we can head over from there? I'll post a thing on the SCOPE site too. |
Where ever works best. Let's get lot's of boat and have a blast
