Thoughts? - 35 Outlaw

Looking to upgrade boats and have been looking at a couple 07 35ol. Since this is my first perf style boat I've started doing some research. A few threads have been posted about issues with liner based hulls and structural cracking. Boats get stress cracks, but I don't want to deal with major issues like I've read in other threads. What opinions and thoughts are out there?

JaayTeee 09-17-2009 09:26 AM

If you boat in rough water alot, I'd pass.

GatorDave 09-17-2009 09:54 AM

I'd have to agree with JaayTeee. The liner boat I have spent time in doesn't seem to show any cracking but does not feel solid. Too much flexing when crossing wakes, etc.

Great lakes and loto, those considered rough?

Yes.

I have heard of some 30's breaking that ran in those
waters.....I doubt a 35 would be much different.

thanks for the comments. Any insight into what years of OL's I should look to? would like to be in the size range of 33 to 36.

The 09' fountain built 35's went back to
stringer construction.....don't know how many are
out there, but there's a couple "new" ones listed
in the classifieds.

If that's not to your liking, the last year of the
36 was 05' and the 33 was 06' as I recall.

There's plenty of each out there.

If I were comparing the two to a 35, I'd
say that a 33 is probably closer in overall size
and performance.

33

33 for sure. best looking baja imo. and nice ride. I went from a 29 to 33 and it feels like twice the boat!

Irishtornado 10-05-2009 09:47 PM

I agree the 33OL is the best twin Naja built IMO. Defubately one they should've kept making.

does anybody know how much reggie raised the x on the 35 baja outlaw????

redbud35 10-07-2009 06:06 PM

It can't be much. Their test in Powerboat showed 84. I run 83 lightly loaded in the middle of summer. Same power.

I believe I was told that they're 5/8" higher. However that all depends on what Baja considered stock height. If you were to measure 5 different boats, I'm willing to bet, you'd have 5 different measurments.

I will agree, the 33 / 36 O/L's are a better constucted boat (with stringers), but I also know a-lot of extremely happy 35' O/L owners.

We have 10 35' O/L customers, out of these 10, 1 had liner issues. The other 9 are problem free, 1 has 700's (runs 104 mph), 3 have 525's (running 86 MPH), 1 is customized w/ 496 HO's - Whipple Charged (runs 85 MPH at 3.5lbs boost), and the remaining 5 have 496 HO's (running 74 MPH). It was 1 of 496 HO boats that had the liner issues, which is proof, the faster - the better!! (J/K) but, you can use this against your wife, if your looking for an excuse to up grade your boat / motors.

2 very nice 33 O/L's for sale w/ 496 Mag HO's

Boat4me is right on for a 35 with 496ho's. I did click 75 on GPS when I was solo once. But most ofthe time with a few peeps its 73-74.

mikebrls 10-16-2009 09:49 PM

i bought a brand new 2007 35 with 496ho's and it ran great .
i would take it out in real 3 to 4 footer's with no problem ." not lake 3 to 4's but ocean 3 to 4's :)

i think it's pot luck on if you get a good boat weather it be a custom boat or a production boat i have had a few of both and can say some of the production boat's where built stronger then the custom one's .

good luck on your search

mike

Just comparing to what else is out there. Still no firms hits at a great price.
Yes I am taking a beating from what I paid.
The 35 is a great boat. Big cockpit and big cabin for a 35. I just sat in a 38 donzi. Both the cockpit and cabin were much smaller. but the speed makes up for those differences.

I'm a retard. I've been thinking about a 400ss. It just makes more sense at the lake.
