36 outlaw w 900s

It showed up here for sale again.
Looks like they parting it out now.

Always thought it would be a nice combo.
Wonder what kind of numbers anybody ever got with it.

Dock Holiday 01-14-2010 07:31 PM

Very tail heavy from what I was told.

Could be wrong but I think is was in the mid 90's tops.

Smitty 01-14-2010 11:15 PM

Did that boat come from the factory with the #6 drives??

Yes and the Mercury racing 900's.

The only one built to my knowledge.

Okay I knew I had some pictures!

Just took a while to find them with over 60,000 boat pictures on the computer now!

It's really ashame this boat sit for sale so long. I don't think the package worked and many are afraid of the 900's with the high maintenance.

TampaBeach 01-15-2010 02:10 PM

Thats a great looking boat, but I agree the motors kill it. In my modest opinion Baja buyers like to use their boats not work on them. If he could detune them from 900hp to say 650hp and have the reliability of a 700sci, I bet it would sell. But of course all the 36's are wave crushers not speed demons.

dogghouse 06-03-2010 11:47 PM

Does anyone know any more about this boat....... I just sold my 36 and am in the market for a 42 fountain but this boat really has me thinking. I’m only looking at the fountains for the speed, I’m still a Baja lover I’ve had 5 already.

Are these 900s reallly alot of maintenance?

jeff32 06-04-2010 06:47 AM

high HP= always high maintenance IMO...

Airpacker 06-04-2010 06:55 AM

One of our local guys ordered it new. It ran around 104 with that power in it. He rode it hard and put it away wet often. When the rfresh time came around, he got out of poker running.

Bill Hockley, owner of the HockShop franchise was the original owner.

You should look at Dock's boat. It is sick...

XT-Innovator 06-04-2010 03:40 PM

+1 Dock's 36 needs NO maintainance, and is all ready to run w/o any worries. Guaranteed!

XT

JasonSmith 06-04-2010 04:19 PM

The 900's had intercooler issues & they are a solid roller cam engine so you're gonna run the valves once or twice a season depending on how you treat the sticks.
No real issues in my opinion other than the intercooler. That part can be changed out to a superchiller or Whipple intercooler & you'll be good to go.

rhodeiii 06-05-2010 01:05 PM

I've got the staggered engine outlaw 36. The fore and aft balance is perfect plus. I would highly recomend staggered engines to anybody. At 220 pounds I really appreciate the accesability for maintainance.

I really don't want another 36OL I was only thinking about this one becouse of the 6s but what power does dock have?

If I like the power and price who knows.....

JasonSmith 06-06-2010 04:52 PM

Doghouse, look for the thread about "rebirth of a baja".
Dock's boat is 100% done & new. It won't take a thing but gas.

Ill take a look thx.... I know mark, I was at his shop when he was building your motors.

XT-Innovator 06-07-2010 10:06 AM

Just skip through the sections where Mark came to Bucyrus, and we hit the town??

At 91 pages long it remains the biggest story in the Baja section to date, and it might take less time to walk to Bucyrus and view the boat?

XT

I don't have to tell you then that he does EXCELLENT work and Dustin Whipple has nothing but good to say about him.

DLange here on the board wants the boat if he can sell his 33 Outlaw. If he gets it first it will be living at LOTO.
