30 Outlaw Questions
Hey Gang, I aksed this question on another site and all I got was liner boat construction bashing. I have a 2008 26 Outlaw (liner boat) that has seen some pretty rough rides between the Atlantic Ocean and Chesapeake Bay and has yet to show any signs of spider cracks at all. I am thinking about moving up to one of the few remaining 2008 30 Outlaws that are still out there (great deals to be had). Anyway I'd like to hear some honest, educated opinions as to why or why not I should consider the 30 Outlaw. What I should look out for, be concerned about, etc. Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks, Steve |
Well bigger is the obvious choice. I have only heard of a hand full of liner boats that have had problems. Most of those are long gone now in a trash pile. I would not even think twice about the liner boats, all good in my book. A link to a nice priced on is below.

It seems to be more of the 04's/05's that had the issues...The 08 will be a FAJA and have stringers...There shouldn't be any issues with that boat other than it was built at the company formally know as Fountain.
|
the 08 were still baja's the fountains did not start untill 09. It was not just the 04 05.

You might try Premier Boats in Lincoln Nebraska. They have a nice 08 30 they are trying to unload. Ask for Kevin.
|
I stand corrected...Do your research. Hawkeye Boat Sales would be another good source.

In a little over 8 months our '08 has logged around 190 running hrs and has been all over SWFL and the Keys. Everything so far is great - the only issues we have had have been minor (i.e. bad gauge, power steering line drip). |
Thats good to hear JSW, I agree it would be horrible to get stuck with a lemon but I also suspect that there are many more owners enjoying trouble free boating in the 30 OL than there were lemons.
|
ID like to see a step by difference in this type of build

Not true. The FAJA was not built until model year 2009.

My first "real" boat was a new '05 30 OL. The only problems I had was some nasty stress cracks at each side of the wind screen. The dealer "fixed" it multiple times, but they kept coming back. Other than that, no problems at all. And I beat the crap out of it (ask Busta). After close to 200 hours, I moved up to a 35 OL.
