Question about 1999 272's
You know I hope I won't regret asking this question but oh well here goes. Were there any known issues with the 1999 272 series? I only ask because it seems there many in the know on here and I would love to know. We haven't had it very long and it seems to be pretty solid and it ran very well at LOTO last Labor Day in rough water. I know one issue is the rear vent design wasn't thought out very well but that isn't a big issue to me. Looking for any BIG issue anyone would know about.
Thanks. |

I have a 252, and assume everthing is mostly the same design, and the rear vents are my only problem. LOVE it/

The 272 is a great boat.
You need to check all the stringers and the transom for rot. It was not a problem, but could be a big problem if the boat was not cared for. Test run the boat if at all possible. Tap over the entire hull outside and the stingers and other exposed wood inside looking for any soft spots. Do a compression and leak down test on the motor. Hook up a scan tool to see the exact hours. Drain the outdrive and watch closely and see what comes out. If all the above check out and you like the boat and price then buy & ENJOY. Good luck |
