I have read on some othe threads about the "lack of structure" at Baja. I don't mean this to be a put down but, it seems their was just no real leadership in that company or maybe accountability? Also did Regan push the "liner" production, it just seems like their was really good people working there but horrible management.

On the outside looking in not knowing all the B.S. behind the scene.....That boat looks bad ass!

BINGO!

You would not think that just one person could bring down a company that had 40% of a nitchie market, but if left in place for a long enough time???? Brunswick did send someone to replace, and fix that issue but it was a little too late.

During the time when the employees where dismantling the plant, one such person stated they were going to say some good-by's in the shop to the Engineering manager, and he strongly advised him not to do that. (he didn't)

It is really too bad. I'll tell you this, I love my 25 Outlaw and have had absolutely no issue with the boat itself. A friend of mine has a 275 that has also been perfect. We took a factory tour when we dropped my brothers 23 Outlaw for some work and was extremely impressed with the factory. I love the Baja line and it kinda sucks that they are are no longer around.

Yep, he was a one man wrecking crew. He was also a sailboater, he didnt give a sh*t about powerboats. I firmly believe if they would have put him on the chopping block about 2006 I would be clocking in tomorrow morning at 5 am and we'd still be building boats.

We'd probably be working on the 42 Outlaw right now. :angry-smiley-038:

It amazes me how a total dip-sh*t can move into a leadership position with a company & within a few years run it into the ground. All the time those in the know let the ones who can fix it know what's up & they are too afraid to admit they f'ed up. So they let it continue & work themselves & all those around them sink with the ship.

Oh yes, one bad leader can bring an entire company down. I had a chance to meet JR Jennings ?? and Barbara?? Once at a meeting in Stuart and I was fairly impressed. I worked at a company called MERISEL in NC, compete with Tech Data, and Ingram Micro. Our CEO took the third largest distributor of IT products and tanked the whole company in 3 years. Needless to say he made the "Worst CEO" list in 2001. Of course he had a golden parachute.

TampaBeach you are correct... it is simply amazing was a single person can do to a successful corporation not to mention countless lives and families!

I know what it is like to work for a corporation that was managed straight into the ground....Chrysler.

WOW!! this makes me miserable, I really love Baja's. He didn't just ruin the company, he ruined lives, sounds like Baja had some passionate folks taking pride in building these boats.

Thanks for the great info on this 40OL poker run, it looks fast and really impressive. Just by looking at it without the knowledge you guys put up on here, I'd swear 100+ mph, i'm a little disappointed...
