Looks like a pretty clean boat? Dont know if price is right? but, looks like a nice, fast boat!

Price is right in line, but if they didn't upgrade those internals and headgaskets I'd be very leary of paying that kind of money for it. Curious to speeds they're getting out of it though.

Keith Atlanta 04-19-2010 09:19 AM

I saw that too. You dont think 88MPH is possible with about 630HP?

Irishtornado 04-19-2010 10:01 AM

Yea I think it's possible, but my concern would be if they did any upgrades to the internals of the motor. I don't think a stock 496Mag/HO would hold up long to a Whipple Supercharger running it hard.

I didn't see the speed #'s when I posted that originally...Claiming 88-90mph on GPS...

AGREE, big difference in WHIPPLE a blue motor vs Black motor.

n20michael 04-19-2010 07:40 PM

Does the Mag/HO not come with forged pistons/crank and good rods? I can understand head gaskets and maybe valve springs, but, what other internal parts would be needed to "safely" install the whipples? I was under the impression that if you ran them with conservative boost pressure they where a bolt on deal?

MAYBE thats why its for sale? if the motors need to be rebuilt from running the whipples without the proper internals its not gonna be cheap for the new owner

No after 2001-2002 they stopped using forged internals.

Say. isn't 88MPH the exact speed needed to travel back into time.......

Really? so, I assume a boat from 01-02 would have pretty stout internals? Any idea why the would go away from the forged internals? Thanks for the info, I had NO idea they stopped using forged stuff after 02!

They're using GM Truck engines and pretty sure GM isn't putting forged internals in they're engines so Mercury wouldn've had too. Like was said...$$$$$ basically they could just marinize the truck engines and drop them in.

Kieffer4 04-20-2010 08:56 AM

Not sure why they would be running 1:35 ratio drives....

Spin a lower pitch propeller...

Kieffer4 04-20-2010 03:22 PM

I'd have to do the math but a 1:50 running 88 mph wouldnt be swinging more than a 28 would it? Can't see the advantage of going to a 24 pitch or something like that. If they are swinging bigger than that it seems they are pushing the motors way too hard.

Could be a 30 or 32. Seems like a lot on those motors. What does a 30 weigh? I know my 25 is no lite weight.

It's a heavy boat so I could be off. Maybe they had those drives on hand.

Ahhhh, Ok, that makes sense, I guess it always comes back to money! I bet the price of the motors DIDN'T decrease when they went to cast internals either?

Its a sharp looking boat, you see a lot of "outlaws" with Whipples, but, not as many Boss 302's, As I said before if I was looking to step up I would look at Jason or Irish's boats first, they are both KILLER!
