Why do ppl. say to stay away from Progressive? I've always had good luck with them.

what are the other two companys were they higher? Iam looking for 50,000 for the saber since the drive and motor are worth more than that, but figure it will be hard for a custom built 88 boat with brand new parts.

I have heard bad stories about them not paying out, or taking a long time to pay out.

I have too, but only 2nd hand info. I haven't heard anyone tell me a specific problem that they had personally with the company.

I don't remember, but you're gonna have a tough time finding insurance I think because of the age of the boat. I hope I'm wrong.:drink:

Hey guys, I had my boat with American Modern Insurance. DO NOT GET THEM. I forget who the broker was, but it wasn't Stacy I don't think.
I did have agreed upon value, but check the policy and make sure that they do not hammer you for "prior damage or non-maintained boat". Also get a notorized survey of the boat and insist that the company come out and give you their approval of the boat before they insure it. I only had my boat for about 6 months, with a survey from a year prior. After the accident their "expert" claimed that the smack on the bottom and stringer issue was due to prior damage or non maintenance and denied my claim. We are still taking them to arbitration because our arguement is that they should have either inspected it or required a new survey BEFORE they took me on as an insured and once they did, they were responsible for any damage that occured. Anyway just get all your paperwork lined up beforehand. My lawyer said that Allstate is probably the best insurance company to deal with in terms of getting payout if you are insured with them. If you are fighting Allstate, he said they are the worst. -mike |

While one person's claim experience with a company wasn't good, doesn't mean that the next person's won't be. I can provide you with many clients who have been extremely pleased with their claim handling with American Modern. Each claim situation is different, just my opinion.... Anyways, All i am saying is that someone may have seen your first post and then never saw Mike's follow up post stating that it was NOT WAKE ZONE... now, someone has an inaccurate/incorrect perseption of my agency because of the comment that you posted... :( I'm sure you can appreciate my position on this...- Thank you.[/QUOTE] |

I'm sure you can appreciate my position on this...- Thank you. Okay, since you want to get personal, here goes. I have communicated with you twice about boat insurance. The first time, I couldn't get YOU to return my emails. Finally got you by phone. After claiming you could beat everyone's price, you couldn't come close to the deal I had with Erie. The second time, you quoted me, you were actually close to Erie in price, but with a lay-up. When you finally disclosed that the underwriter was Modern, I questioned you about Paison's problem with them. You're response was that everybody has problems from time to time, and you were sure that it wasn't a problem with Modern, because you had never had any problems. I did not receive an indication of why Paison was having a problem with them, which is really what I was looking for. IMO, if you are basing YOUR reputation on Modern's history, YOU have a problem. And, if you don't want to be questioned about it, don't come on these forums claiming to be god's gift to boat insurance. |
