Spotlight 40 Outlaw in classifieds.

Ya'll see this?

http://www.offshoreonly.com/classifi...o34095-en.html

I wonder if they would disclose it being dropped to a prospective buyer?

I think it is WAY overpriced too.

Shallow Minded 05-11-2010 08:00 PM

What kind of speeds will it see with the 850's?

Still didn't break 100 I don't think.

Smitty 05-11-2010 09:13 PM

My guess is mid 90's. That boat will need over 1000 hp per motor to break 100 mph.

Strip Poker 388 05-11-2010 09:34 PM

It didnt hurt it that bad did it?

JasonSmith 05-11-2010 09:56 PM

The boat ran 82 or something ridiculously low. It wasn't hurt so bad it couldn't be repaired, but still it was dropped off a Wiggins form at least 8' up.
The x-dimension is way too low & the stagger isn't close enough, in my & others opinions.

I remember the thread and picks, didnt think it was real bad But thats real slow:eek:

If that a carbon/composite hull, what does it weigh?

You should be able to break 90 pretty easily if it is less than 11000lbs. The X is just way low... isnt it.

Rhetorical statement but: How can you rig a boat with 850's and funk it up that bad? Why even put that power in there if you are going to put the drives in the basement...

JasonSmith 05-11-2010 10:39 PM

If it were cheap enough the new #8 drive would take 2" off the drive height. Otherwise it would need to have the a$$ filled & redone to get the x right. The other problem is there isn't another 40 with 6's on it that Baja built so it's pretty much a guess on where to put it.
I love the boat, don't care for the 6 bolsters though.
There is a thread in this section that is not too old reguarding Spotlight.

Twin-Kyle 05-12-2010 03:16 PM

I posted about that earlier.

The dealer is here in Canada

The propshaft doesnt look like its to far below the boat maybe a inch if that! Was that a Poker Run hull or a standard layup hull?

jeff32 05-12-2010 08:15 PM

Always loved that boat. It's the way a 40 should be set up. Staggered and 6's. I actually liked the "school bus" seating as well. Too bad it doesn't run correctly. Lifting the X would be a B!TCH.

jeff32 05-13-2010 06:26 AM

how did you get these pictures? used to be your boat? and who says this boat is not fast ? someone here know this boat at this point?

jeff32 05-13-2010 06:38 AM

Split Descision ( 40 O/L poker run boat) with 700's is faster than this thing.

When I rode on it back in 05', 85 is all it would
do going down river.

Knowing you guys it was probably faster going back up river with empty coolers.

Although that may be true in most instances.

I don't recall that boat having enough space
in the cockpit for a cooler of that magnitude:drink:
