Back up prop suggestions.
2nd post here and just got my new to me boat so I am very excited. I am reading as much as possible as quickly as possible! Boat is a 2004 Baja 232 with a 6.2L Merc.
I am sending my prop (Mirage Plus 19P) off to bblades to be labbed and I am looking for a backup prop. I am trying to find another Mirage Plus 19 used but I can't find much out there in right hand. I am turning right about 5k rpm's wide open. Can I go with a 21P for a backup with decent results? Any suggestions on a backup prop would be great. Thanks. |
What is the correct rpm range for the 6.2?
I'm sure it would be fine as a backup. If 5K is where your engine should be running, a 21P will give up holeshot and increase plaining time. Your top end rpm will drop at WOT. I have no idea if you would gain any speed or not. Backup prop, probalby fine....but you may not be happy with it's over all performance. |
Correct range is 4800-5200 as far as I know. Yeah that is kinda what I figured, but as a backup I don't really mind if it isn't the "best" prop. I can get one for a reasonable price and it will allow me to keep the boat on the water if my main prop takes a dump. Thanks!

Standard 21 mirage may work better, and be cheaper.

Thanks for the advice. I will look into that.

Next question. My current prop is 15 1/4, did they make a 15 1/4 in the 21P? All I seem to see out there is a 14 3/4. I have been told that with my boat 3900 lbs, I wouldn't want to consider a prop smaller than 15. Is this true? Thanks in advance.

I have an extra 19p 3blade, for a bravo one.
I would sell it if intrested. its stainless steal, but its not a bravo, or a mirage prop. |
Wow thanks, but I found a used Mirage Plus 19p on ebay. I appreciate the help.
