6.5" speakers

You are a scholar and a gent. Thanks for the quick reply!

just an FYI. the factory speakers are 6.5 but the aftermarket 6.5 i bought (last week) did not fit, there was some trimming needed for sure.
I put 6.5 in the plastic cubby holes by the cup holders, and under the rear bench seince i had to cut anyway i put 6X9's. |
Thanks for the heads up but I decided to make a plate to fill in the holes for the speakers in the cubby by the cup holders and mount them elsewhere. I am installing 6x9's under the rear seat along with a single 10" sub.

Putting 6x9 under the bench is wasting the speakers....IMO

I just put some killer 6X9 on under the rear seat. facing out. and they sounds KILLER.
but these are not cheap speakers, and are on a good amp. i have those and the 6.5 int he factory location/ both matching JL audio, and on a Jl amp. they are screaming. WOT standing up, i can JAM and its not even close to distorting. JL subs under the seat in sealed boxes. seakers are in that pannel facing out |

WTF back? ha

just an FYI, but a free tip for getting a lot of boom out of your subs is to actually point the sub facing down firing at the floor of your boat...i built two separate sealed boxes for them and i held mine about 1.5" off the floor in my old 24 Outlaw and they HAMMERED. i installed (2) cheap $100 10's and had people with big $$ systems wondering how my boat sounded so much better than theirs. you just lose so much sound firing them forward into the cockpit from in the frame of the back seat where i see the majority of them mounted.
have fun and good luck with your system. |

have fun and good luck with your system. Most people go the free air route so they don't have to deal with the building of a box. MOST free airs don't hit as hard as a boxed sub would. I know some will argue that, but free air subs are a compromise to begin with. I have 3 Rockford Fosgate P1's in my boat. Lowest price sub they make. Anyone that has been in my boat will tell you it hits HARD. But I built a whole custom back seat for my boat. |

X2. I used to install stereos, downfiring is the way to go for subs. Worth the extra effort.
