Thats because I am realistic..not that I'm not optimistic..but each boat will run a bit different with the same power..if you were getting those numbers Irish, you were very lucky. Look at the tests they did on the 302..just under 67 MPH with HO's..but again, drive it before you buy it..my 33OL does 67.8 GPS with 454 mags & 3 blade 25P Mirage Plus....It runs 66+ with my Hydromotive QIV 24P...but has much better handling and mid range punch...props have alot to do with it too of course..
Oh , and my buddy that had the 302 with the 454 MPI's could not break 60 unless it was downhill with a tailwind! Ha! |

I'd say Dave's numbers are spot on. I have seat time in 3 different 302's with HO's in em and none of them have had a problem breaking 70. I am guessing the "test" you are referring to is the Boattest article. I remember reading that article a few years ago thinking their numbers were low. If you look at the test info, they only got 4500rpm out of that boat. |

Here's a pic of my speedo and tach's in my 302 this is with 6 adults and 2 very full coolers 3/4 tank of gas spinning 30p Bravo's labbed |

BLOWN85, Just spoke with your friend John. There is good info on here. I'm with Irish on the speeds, Bajapred's numbers seem a little low. The 302 cockpit space is only trumped by the 33s (for boats in this size range).

I've had the boat for 4yrs and same boat has had all 3 motors in it. It's all in setup you have to spend time to get the most out of it. I'm sure many can vouch for those speeds who have drove the boat or been in it. I was spinning 28p Bravo's labbed on 496Mags running 67 no matter the load. Spun same 28's with HO's saw consistent 72mph 74 with light load.

My 302 with HO's and labbed 29 props would run 70 any day of the week and 75 lightly loaded. I would say Dave's numbers are pretty much spot on.

I own a 2004 Baja Boss 302 loaded with options. It has 496HO motors and 29 pitch 4 blade labbed merc stainless props. This boat on a gps speedo will run 75+mph. Other than the boat porpuses kinda bad at slower speeds I like the boat. The cockpit room and cabit comforts and windshield make this a great boat to own.
Where I boat in Iowa this boat wil pass any boat on the River but it will.not pass the fuel dock.without needin a fill up! Add info |
