that sure looks like a 30OL by the sunpad and dash, but it's 2003 Outlaw graphics on it. I don't know it unfortunately. Looks clean, but with 6.2's it's going to be a slow boat.

I have a pic of the registration number on the side of the boat. Is there a site I can use to look up a name in Michigan ??

No that would be private information through the state

Twin-Kyle 10-17-2010 10:53 AM

First run liner boat...I wouldn't touch it with a 50 foot pole.

RACEFUEL 10-17-2010 07:33 PM

baja stringers

Hey .. If you dont mind ,I have a question.. Did Baja build there boats BEFORE late 2004 with a stringer set up?? I understand that as of LATE 2004 they went to a liner form.. But if they started with stringer, then in late 2004 went to liner, then in 2009 back to stringer is my question..

TWIN-SPINS 10-17-2010 07:48 PM

i think it was in the TBM ,,site before

Yes with the pre 2004 question. When Fountain started building Baja I believe they built just a handful with liners then switched to stringers again. That was in 09.

Kyle

Do you think you can identify if its LINER by the serial number on the boat??
If its a 2004 I presume you cant know for sure since thats the transition year.

XT-Innovator 10-17-2010 09:46 PM

Now that Liberty owns Baja, Fountain, Donzi & Proline....What if Baja's had liners back in the construction? Proline models have been built with liners for many years w/o any problems.

WHAT IF?

If it's a 30 Outlaw it's a liner boat...

Baja continued to use stringer setup until 2008 in certain model boats. In 2004 they designed the 30 Outlaw to replace the 29 Outlaw and this was when they changed to liner design. 23 Outlaw, 26 Outlaw, 35 Outlaw followed replacing the 33 Outlaw, 36 Outlaw...The 40 Outlaw was still a stringer design...Several of the Performance Series boats where still stringer setup as well...342, 302, 275...I believe the 278 was a liner setup.

Caluw1 10-18-2010 09:09 AM

Agree with the graphics setup...I have a 2003 275 Performance and those are 2003 graphics.

Catastrophe 10-18-2010 05:44 PM

OK
Thanks, we've come to the conclusion its a Liner boat.

Now educate us on the differences and the negative comments regarding a Liner boat.

Interesting stuff here.

Thanks guys.

before long www.BajaBoatOwners.com will have ten times the info and twenty times less drama than that other site when it comes to Baja Boats

Catastrophe 10-19-2010 04:36 AM

Forget that part.

My friend found the owner finally, but glad we came on here to ask.

Lets get back to the technical question about the LINER negative comments.

Any help is appreciated.

Irishtornado 10-19-2010 09:55 AM

There was liner issues on the 30 Outlaw. I would want to know why it's got 2003 graphics on a 2004

30 outlaw 2005 10-19-2010 10:05 AM

It is possible it was ordered that way. I know they did do a couple of boats with different year graphics on them. If i recall there was a 30 Outlaw with the 29 Outlaw graphics on it.

Ok, Here are some photos of the very first 30 Outlaw getting built for the Miami Boat Show in 03'. If you look close in the photos, you can see a simple cabin was done in this boat only to have it done for the show in time. It is the only one ever built with (Foam) stringers throughout. NO 30 ol's were ever built by Baja Marine with wooden stringers. The #2 boat and all the rest had the Baja liner in them. Notice how much higher the nose of the first boat was in the water. It was too light making the boats CG to far aft. It was over 6 months after this first boat until the liner mold was developed, and the model went into production right around the time we started making the 2004 model change in June/July. So this boat in question is a hull that was started early, or more likely a special order paint. Notice the first boat did not have the windscreen developed yet!

As far as liner issues, you can write a book on the pro's & con's.
