Depending on other weight items in the boat, gen/stereo try a 28P B1. I am running similar power with a 26 B1 labbed up to 27. I hit 5400 rpm ~76mph. I will try a 28 when I am not paying off other stuff. I have heard and maybe someone can comment that the 5 blade props are harder on the drive. With a stock Bravo drive and 600Hp patience going to plane and pulling back on the stick when jumping wakes is very important. 2 years for me, so far so good. I have a 25OL.

5 blade

I spoke to brett today from b blades, we had this same conversation about my 27 baja boss 509 m3 procharged 730 hp. brett said a 5 blade will be the same as a 4 if you treat it with a little respect. a little gental on the stick, he said it will offer a bit more stearn lift over the 4 blade...

You'll kill the drive with a 5 blade. I would think a 28 4 blade. I turn a 30p at 5800 with mine (830HP)

Definitely needs llift. Mine rides like a flatbottom :)

I have a 25OL.

What kind of engine or other upgrades have you done to the 25 OL?

Have you tried a BBLADES Bravo 1?Even though I don't have a BAJA I found out my 2000 26 scs Wellcraft Excalibur has the same hull as the 272.The boat's dry weight is heavier @5000lbs but the x dimension, strakes and pad are the same.Even my dash and cabin look almost identical.

502 strocked to 509 new pistons, rods, heads, cam, etc, etc. Retuned, estimated hp ~600. Running dry headers (water reversion is what killed the stockish 502). Drive is stock with the exception of add-on external steering. I have a drive shower and I also swapped the water intake from the drive to the transom (lots of shallow silty areas in FL which were a pain with the low water pick-up). The drive pick up now just pressure feeds a hose and I installed a dump right over the top of the drive, works like a champ. No other changes to the hull but I have always seen ~1-2 mph faster than others claimed. I could always just walk away from my buddy with a 25OL 496HO even when he was alone and I had a boat full. The most challenging thing with the engine upgrades dealt with the valve covers. The new heads had higher lift rockers and I had to install the taller valve covers. This lead to PITA issues with stock merc mounting locations. All things considered it runs great, the only issue I have is slight loading up if I am at dead idle for along time. Everything clears it throat after getting back on the gas and I change the plugs farily frequently.

NICE!! Its good to see other 25OL out there beefed up. If your on the limiter now you could definately turn a 28 or maybe even a labbed 30. As you test more props start another thread documenting your before and after results.
