I think just about everyone here surfs the net looking at boat ads. Ive been casually looking for a project boat for the past 2 years. Im looking between 22' and 27'. The perfect boat for me would probably be a 252 with a cuddy. Completely stripped, or a destroyed interior is perfect (I might know a couple guys that work on boats). 24 Outlaws, 240s and 250s are also on the list. No Islanders or open bows. Post your Ebay, craigslist, or boat trader finds here please!

Is there a max price?

You guys are on the right track. This thread can be for everyone. We have a similar thread on the Island Pirates site called "Great Starter Boat" that is about 38 pages long.

took me a good 6 months of searching everywhere you can imagine for my project boat. i ended up with a 89 baja sport 250 which is a 27' if you include the platform. i bought it with no motor, no interior, no windshield and found out it had shot stringers and a questionable transom after we got it home. it was the best i could find in my under 5k price range at the time. i found the same boat but a year newer complete minus a motor a few months later that sold for around 4k:( anyways the boat is all rebuilt now, i think i built a pretty decent boat fr about 10k total invested, now i am adding more stuff so i have bone past the 10k mark.

I just sold a 1995 27.2 with a fresh 502 in it for 4,500 needed a drive and I sold the guy a drive too. I can see if he wants to sell it.

wasnt the 502 alone worth 4500? helli would have scooped that up in a heartbeat!

Air time has an 88 24 outlaw i believe its stripped or can be bought as you want it needs work on trailer for cheap get ahold of him.

long story short.... I was owed some money for a job that i had about 1k of true money into. the boat was my payment. i sold the boat for $4500 with in 5mins of having it and then i sold a drive that i had 1k into for $2500. so it was just a quick turn around sell for me. About 3 hours of work for 5k

mines for sale it has a custom hatch with scoop, and a fairing like the ol 24, its a 88 240 sport, I have the factory swimplateform wood also. needs a bulkhead repair. it can come with without new bolsters, sm exhaust dry, hdy steering, bravo drive hd gimbal, trailer new gauges, gps, and a 509 with a 850 bg or extra cash for custom 1050. pics are on here thread is [picks of my boat 1 and 2] those are from the last time it ran in 06 its been in a cover it garage since because in 07 spring,the shortie drive msds and carb, steering was stolen. and I had 6 surgeries from 04 to 08 and in 09 bought a project saber 28 to put my 1100hp motor and konrad drive in. so I am going in on the 16th for operation # 11 and #12 in jan or feb so,I will finish the saber in the spring and run it. so the baja will sit until next year which then I will rebuild if I have not sold it. so if someone just wants the hull and trailer with drive 4 grand its yours I have all the extras priced out to sell with the boat or ebay when ever I get to it haha. art

This one is at one of the auctions. They've been trying to $40K for this boat for ages. Would guess you could probably pick this up for high 20's.

I can't stand those old force boats. The 85/86's are nice classic lined boats, but those 88/89 Forces IMO, look terrible (and they look worse in the water). They're too tall by the helm, no real lines, they just look goofy.

Seems like Baja thought so too... Didn't they cancel this hull (or evolve this hull) and re-instate the older model as the Caliber?


If someone is interested in this hull I know of one for $19,500. It's a running boat (I've seen it on the lake), and seems to be in good condition. It was on CL last winter, but it hasn't been advertised lately. I drive by it once in a while on M59.

Has a 21 Baja sport, looks to be clean with trailer for 2500.00. It needs a long block and the add says it is in great shape. I have no connection to this boat, just saw the add today.
