Anyone Know where to get these

Boat Umbrella. I have sent a message to this guy but he cant give me accurate information. Some photos show a different mount than others and also some umbrellas have stainless shafts where other are just painted. Would like to get one or something real similar.

I think the Anchor Shade design is much better that that one. The 4 tie downs really help hold it well.

I have seen the anchor shade as well. I like the idea of not having the 4 cords. My 25 Outlaw doesnt have much room and the clamp on the ebay one put it tight to one seat.

Baja_342 12-16-2010 05:56 PM

That umbrella thing would fail in the slightest breeze. I had an anchor shade. Bought it when my first daughter was born to keep her out of the sun. Used it once and returned it. What a pain in the ass to deal with. My suggestion is spend the money on a proper bimini or deal with the sun.

Did you scroll down and look at the clamp at the base? Looks pretty stout to me.

I have an anchor shade and never use it, to bulky to get out and put away.

I would buy this if it was non marring as my bolster stands are painted.

Plowtownmissile 12-16-2010 09:40 PM

West Marine sells anchor shades also.

kragar 12-17-2010 08:35 AM

Don't plan on using it when the boat is in motion. I dont like the anchor shades. I would buy the one on ebay if the guy could tell me what I am getting. They got to be for sale somewhere else?

TEAMBAJA 12-17-2010 01:23 PM

Id spend the money and get a bimini top. Well worth the money no matter what it costs. XT might have some pics of the one on his 29 Outlaw.

That boat umbrella is just butt ugly. Your not Mary (F**kin) Poppins! :drink:

Where do you suppose I store the bulky bimini when not in use? I don't need anything more than an umbrella. We would only use it when it got hot up like at 85* :drink:

My 2 cents

Bimini looks terrible on a speed boat, anchor shade is a pain to set up and take down and if you move it falls. I would give the umbrella a try.

Where do you keep your boat? I leave my bimini out and mounted all the time, and only unfold it when I need it. It really doesn't hurt anything or slow me down, but I'm always under 70mph. I would feel safe with my bimini up the way it is until about 80-85 or so.

I've only needed it three times (twice for rain, and one day I was just too damn hot... it was well over 90), but it was nice to have.

You can leave it off and store it off of the boat somewhere (garage?), but it's nice to have it on unexpected "scattered showers."

Whats the point of having a bimini that is stored in the garage?

Post some pics up when you get your boat umbrella for future reference. Im sure this topic will come up again.

Maybe XT will chime in with some pics of his bimini. We didnt use it all the time (obviously not poker runs and things) but it sure was nice to have a place to escape on those blazing days at the beach. Easy to put up and down too!

A 25 Outlaw looks closer to a 36 than a 29ol. My wife hates the look of the boat with the bimini top on it, but I think she would go home if I used an umbrella....

I've had an anchor shade for 3 seasons now & I've used it once. IT is a pain in the ass to put up, tie down, walk around & store.
Bimini tops are for queers. God made sunscreen for a reason.
Peace out girlscout.

Yes the hold downs work well and do not get in the way as you can see, the pole is also handy. I prefer the Anchor Shade as well :D

You know you can buy a lot of sunscreen, beer (and water if there are little ones) instead of an ugly top or umbrella.

Just throwing it out there...

+1 Bimini tops belong on deck/pontoon boats, not a performance boat.

Point is, if you keep your bimini at home most of the time, you can bring it with you on the days that you think you're going to need it. That way you don't really have to worry about where to store it on the boat. It never works out that way, but if you're diligent and protective it could be a good solution.

The three times I've used mine I wasn't expecting to. You can say that they're ghey, or needing to get out of the sun is for wimps, but when it's pouring rain on all of your electronics, dash, GPS, ship to shore, etc., it's nice to be able to put up some protection (I have the zip in plastic windows that cover the whole front of the cockpit). I don't think I would have put forth the effort to buy one if my boat didn't come with one, but I've sure loved having it when I've needed it.
