Fun fact: That Poker Face doesnt exist anymore, it was cut up and replaced. Thats right, the one in the ad is the replacement.

I didn't know that. Was the original damaged beyond repair because of that run or was it another reason....change in the liner manufacturing for example??
Also was the second one exactly the same as the first?? i would assume that they just transfered parts from one to the other right?
How many Pokerface boats were produced??

Yeah I heard that the liner was damaged so bad after the Chicago run that they made another boat. I also heard that Reggie said that was the worst water he had ever been in.

If I recall 5 left Chicago and only 3 came back in the boat the other two cabbed it back from Michigan. I was a very rough day out there. But it was a fun one.

Running smoke on the water poker run

thirdchildhood 01-11-2011 08:02 AM

I was a spectator at the '06 Lake Michigan poker run at a card stop on White Lake. The water was so rough that only a fraction of the boats ran and Poker Face was one of them. It's my understanding that the original was a one off carbon fiber boat. I wonder if this "replacement" is made of carbon fiber. It also had an awesome tow rig and it seems to me that the trailer was flashier than the one being sold. C'mon, Poker Face was something special; You can't just slap that name on any Baja.....

Thanks for posting that, havent watched in awhile.

Thats Dave driving (XT-Innovator), Jason Billmeyer from Hawkeye that did the 2 poker run tours, Adam (WOTW2E), Jasons girlfriend and me. NOT a good day for a hangover!

That boat won every award it was entered in that year! Still my favorite, and thats why it's in my avatar.

Less that half the boats that entered the poker run ran the "after lunch" run to the north. It was so rough that I think the Ilmor boat did a submarine stunt that afternoon. The poker face still shots were the best ones on display during the awards dinner.
