496ho tech question.....?

There is a vacume line on top that goes to the IAC. There is a load hissing noise coming from it and the line just pulls out on both ends. Looks like it runs to the back of the motor to a egr? The motor wants to break up and the alarm sounds. Is this a know problem? The brass fitting on both ends of this hose looks to be press fit, but the keep coming out. Motor has 127hrs on it and its all stock with no performance parts.

I had to put a dang tie wrap on the line so it would stay down! It has worked in 4-5 ft waters for 8 plus years now! I sooo hate a bandaid fix but I too could find no other solution!

So how does it wk.....does it chng to a threaded fitting? Does it replace original iac ??

I ordered this part number in April of this year. This kit was exactly what i needed. Although it shows part number 862999A4 is no longer available which was design 1. So they offer a design 2 that your local Merc dealer can get. If im reading this correct, the new part number 862999A3. The hose runs from the throttle body to the rear of motor. Mine was easier for me to lift the hatch all the way up and reach down standing on rear of boat. That fitting you are talking about is not a press fitting. It is molded to a plate. So the plate and nipple that the hose slips over is all one piece. This should have all your answers.
