depth gauge
The hummingbird unit on the boat is troublesome, it wasn`t working at all, I popped the transducer off put it in a plastic bag with H2O find a place that works. When I cycle the power it stops working in the same place.. its just erratic. I`m tired of messing with it.
I`m buying a new gauge and transducer, should I go with shoot thru puck or transom mount? My last boat had transom mount and it worked fineas long as it was in the water. I have no experience with the pucks. Thank you, Dan btw, took the boat out for the first tiome last weekend and I love it! All the extra room and storage is awesome, the windscreen is functional, the seats are great (no more standing the whole time) it drives like a cadillac compared to the 25' .. etc etc I can`t wait to go out on it again! Buy the one with the puck and mount it inside the engine compartment where Baja made a spot. Clean the area real good and follow the instructions on the install and you will be fine. You do not want a transom mount. It will eventually break off in rough water.

Got a new gauge and the sonar is twice as loud, must have been the gauge, with bilge filled with water it works all the time now, I reused the puck transducer, just have to epoxy it.

Make sure to get all the old residue/epoxy up..sand the spot real good with sand paper, then epoxy the new puck in.

I used a rotary bit to clean up all the old crap off the bottom and made a perfect hole then used the the 610 epoxy from a marina and it still gives reading every 5 minutes only.
oh well I gave it the old try, I`m trying the transom mount transducer next. |
