Hammer vs. Scarab

Ok I'll admit....I looked at a few Scarabs before buying the Hammer. I didn't like the cuddy room of the Scarab, or the design of it....it just looks a lot smaller then a Hammer. Anyways, I've been trying to find out some info on the 2 boats to see how they match up. Most of what I have read or been told is that the Hammer is faster, depending on motors of course. I just liked the design and look of the Hammer a lot better then I do the Scarab. I have seen plenty of 22ft Scarabs running around here locally and I'm wondering how I would come out if I kicked down with one someday. My hammer has the 454 mag so maybe that would be a little extra edge :)

I've never riden in a 22 scarab. But IMO its a sexier boat. I've done a bunch of research on them and again IMO I'd say they are pretty close to equal.

Hey, 97BossHammer,

What are the differences in a 454 Mag and the 454 7.4MPI? Is it possible to upgrade the 7.4 to 454 Mag?

Thanks

Does Scarab still make the 22 foot boat?

22 scarab is a decent boat, but has nothing in the cabin and has standard quick silver shifter and not performance zero effort controls and has a 1975 looking dash with no gaffrig gauges  but you can buy a used 22 scarab for 16,000-18,000 bucks and they don't make anything less than a 26' boat which is know special order and the next up is the 29

dloftis - good question, I'm not real sure on that myself??

Yeah I was not too much for the interior of the Scarab....I thought the outside looked pretty good, some have some aweful graphics. The inside just looks cheap and when compared to a Hammer there's no contest. I was just curious how they match up performance wise.....has anybody ever run one?

engine for engine,

Very close I think, from what I have seen.

97BossHammer 05-31-2002 12:17 PM

Well a "regular" hammer I should say.....Brad yours does not count...I've read where that thing does over 100 so your excluded :) Boy I bet that thing is fun

Actually,

I was referring to comparable 300hp boats. I saw a '97 scarab 22' that was showing 71 on the speedo.

Man, All I have to do now is wait a couple of months and my boat will be capable of at least 140mph. And to think it took money to go fast!

97BossHammer 05-31-2002 05:31 PM

140MPH  what the heck is being done to it??????
Show me a 22ft Scarab doing that ;)
