You don't see much about the Islanders here. Does it have the same hull/performance as the 290's or 29's? Friend of mine has a 292I w/ the single 496 & the BIII. He says it does about 53 -55 here @ 5000 elevation.

I looked at buying a 292 islander with a single HO back in 2003. I like the sunpad layout & roomy cockpit. We took the boat out here at LOTO on an average rough day & it banged around pretty bad, didn't take fairly rough water well. I think the high end as far as speed was 55 mph, give or take a few.

I ended up buying a 32 Envision with a single 500 EFI at the time. The Envision handled MUCH better than the 292 baja. This may just be personal opinion and others may think differently. I like the Baja outlaw, just not the islander so much. However, if a buddy had one & was paying for the gas & drinks I would ride along!

Are all the 290s' & 29 Outlaws twins? same hull? What do they weigh?
What speeds are you getting with the 500 EFI Envision? What does it weigh ... 292 is listed as 5500lbs

Well, I don't know that much about the 290s, but you could get the 29 outlaw in a single engine version. I have read that the single engine boats are not fast at all. Baja listed the twin engine 29 outlaw as 6400 lbs dry weight, but full of gear, fuel and on the trailer it is quite a bit heavier.

We don't have the 32 Envision anymore, got a 36 now. WAY different boat than the single 32. The 32 would top out at 60 with the single 500 EFI, Bravo I. The dry weight was somewhere around 6000 lbs. I am not sure if the outlaw is the same hull design as islander. I would bet not but I don't know specifically. You can get a single 29. Call up Baja and ask about the two hulls. Good luck!

Haven't rode in his yet but you would think 24 deadrise would give a good ride.
I see you could have twin 5.0L or 6.2L in these also... not exactly a huge jump in power there. Whats the factor for the additional weight vs the additional power ei. 100LBS = 20hp? Doesn't seem like twin 5.0s @ 500hp or possibly the 6.2's @ 620hp would be much faster with the extra 700LBS
