Manifold access on 24 Outlaw
I need to replace my manifolds on my 24 Outlaw. The bolt heads are pretty much rusted away. Access is minimal. Anyone alse had this problem before? I was thinking of pulling the motor, is that possible without taking the back seat out? Space around the motor is real tight. Any suggestions on getting those bolts out?
Thanks John |
When I take my motor out the exhuast power sterring pump and circut breaker come off then when the motor is about 12" lifted I spinn it 90 deg. then it will come out without taking the back seat out. Sorry that didn't help you much. try hammering diffrent size sockets on the bolts or maybe grind the heads off and when the manifold is off then take the studs out. good luck

If I were you I would try everything before yanking the motor. Might not seem like much, but having swapped motors and having taken maifolds and risers on and off many times, I would go for pulling the manifolds anyday, over yanking the motor. My boat is a 24 Outlaw, 1998.

mine came off pretty easy, ther is actually a lot of room compared to most boats

Thanks
Thanks for the input, used a Die grinder to cut the bolt heads off. So far so good, almost have starboard side off. Taking a little longer than I wanted but I'll win this one.
Thanks John;) |
