Real Speeds numbers on Baja 29sst with 496s....

What kind of GPS numbers are ppl seeing?
My buddy says he's getting 74 with a light load of fuel. This is fresh water, twin 496s (not HOs).
Sounded high to me, but maybe I'm wrong. Dunno what it is, but everyone in my area comes up with these super high numbers!

Another guy with an old 226ES and 502 ZZ crate motor running 72 on GPS (supposedly)....

Ask him what prop's at what rpm he's running. If it does not add up, he's bs'ing.

No way, they run about 68-69 on a good day. A little slower with full load and hot weather.

Both boats should run about the same speed.

Unless they have raised the x dim, have a shortie drive or raised ext box. That could add up to 4MPH......

I have one with 454 mags, 25 mirage. 70 gps on a good day, load can vary, just not when its this hot. I put specs in that website, it calculated 69-71.

My 29 with 454 mags ran 65-68 depending on water conditions. That was with 4 blades and 3 ppl with very light fuel.

yea, thats what I have seen. I think the 454mags run a little stronger than the standard 496. A little more than the 10HP each.

Interesting....I knew he was bsing me a bit! All the guys at my local beach come up with crazy high numbers that make my boat seem slow! He must be looking at his dream-o-meter and not GPS.

I've got a 36' Sonic with 502 MPIs and best I've had is 62GPS. And mine is damn heavy boat!

This 29 OL looks light, but the power is less...I just didnt think he was seeing low to mid-70s with stock 496s. If so, I was gonna be trading in! lol

Hoss's 29 Outlaw with 425's will run 79.99999999 on the GPS. I've seen it so it is certainly not out of the question.
My 29 with 385's (454 Mag Mpi) ran 72 on the gps and it didn't matter if it had a load of fuel or was light, it ran 72.
5150 on labbed 26p Bravo 1's.
Hoss ran labbed 28p B1's

My 302 ran 70GPS with 496Mags full galley package and full of fuel spinning 28p Bravo's labbed. Same boat with HO's 76GPS spinning 30p Bravo's labbed. Same boat with 500efi's, extension box and -2 Imco shorties 83GPS spinning Bblades worked 28p Bravo 5350rpm's

Guy that bought my baja was on fence between my boat and a 99 35 fountain with stock 502, guy who owned the fountain told him it ran 88mph with stock 502s lol
