Installing A/C in 1998 36 Outlaw

I have a friend with a 1998 Outlaw. Looking for feedback on installing the system. best location for condenser, routing vents etc...

I installed a/c in my 33 which is similar. I put the unit under the v-berth. Then run the ducts through the side panel under the couch back rest and installed the vents in the flat panel behind the couch.

Thanks for the input. That was his plan also. How did you wire the A/C unit? what kind of switch did you put in? his boat does have shore power.

I used a breaker on the shore power panel as the switch.

Where did you purchase the a/c unit? I`d love to put some a/c in mine. I`ve spent every weekend on the boat with a portable unit which works almost too good but not having to lug it around would be nice..

This is not where I bought mine, but if I was going to change mine this is where I would buy it. The 6,500 btu should be the right size.

I will take a few pictures tonight and post them to show you how I installed it.

Thanks for the information. I will find out what brand name the A/C unit is and let you know. He ordered it through a friend that owns a marina.

Good Call 08-30-2011 07:36 PM

The brand name of the unit is Pompanette. 10,000 btu. Out of Tampa Florida.
