240 Sport/Outlaw prop
I am thinking I should go up to a 23p, current prop is a mirage 3 blade 21p. Should I be looking for a 23p mirage, or mirage plus? Engine is a stock 365hp 454 mag.
Thanks, Eric |
Side note.... I am going to verify if my 21 is a plus b/c in theory if it is I may not gain much from a 23 non-plus from what I've read.

what is your wot ???? i had the same motor back in 1988 ran a 21mirage at 5200 had the prop cup the boat ran the best . now a 21plus you can trun 5000rpm a 21reg not a plus will trun 5200 same thing like a 23plus a 23reg. will trun 200rpm more. . i no this for a fact i tested them mirage props one pitch is 200rpm . i hope that helps you out good luck i been in your spot and try all kinds of prop:drink:

I just got the number off the prop and it's a 13702 so I am guessing I have a 21 mirage plus thus my RPMs are about 5k or 4900.
I wonder if I should look for a non-plus 21 or 23?? |

Does anyone know the non-plus mirage 21 and 23 part numbers?

i run a mirage 23 on my 88 240, with a pretty much stock 7.4 330 (crate motor, 250 hrs). has a holley 850, edelbrock manifold, and imco exaust. wot is 4650, full tank of fuel, three people, saw 59 gps. want to try a 22 b1. a buddy of mine runs a 24 b1 on a 98 24 outlaw, with the 454 efi 365. think he sees 61 or 62 gps. i will check the part #'s on my prop this weekend, the boat is at the marina. i think the 23 is the best all around prop for your boat,imo...

my boat had a B1 22 on it when i got it, was a nice prop and handled great. spinning it to 5400 i saw 62 on the gps. i am currently running a 24 B1 with some cup added to it, and now at 5000 im running 66. been told these boats really seem to handle much better with a 4 blade compared to a 3 as well as give you a better holeshot.

Thanks for the input everyone, keep it coming if you have any more info!

I would suggest trying a 22 Bravo 1. The 24's really respond well to this prop, labbed or not.
|
hey rough idle. what kind of motor you running? and what prop?
|
I have a 23P 4 blade and a stock 454. It feels like too much prop, as I only really ever see about 4400 rpm. If I were to start looking for another prop what would you guys suggest? 21P 3 blades seem to be pretty common.

you are correct . for one pitch is 200rpm so that will bring you to 5000rpm were you want to be
Is this a fair price? http://rockford.craigslist.org/boa/2555709418.html |

Sounds to me like you are set up correctlly. You could get the Baja cup on the tips. That would lower slip and drop about 200 RPM's.

call brett at bblades for new props he has a program where you can try props. I had 5 different hp combos in my 240 sport/24ol. with my stock 454 330hp I ran a 23p mirage, at 4600. my 502 390hp= I ran a 25p mirage at 4800rpm and a 24p trubo 3 blade hydromotive at 5000rpm and its for sale. my top motor with a 2'' shortie did 83.2 gps before theft of my drive and parts back in 07. so if someone wants that 24p 3 blade 250 takes it. for a new prop you guys are better with the rev 4 21/23/25p. brett likes it on the baja boats with stock height drives. the drives X on these hulls is too deep. my ran much better with the imco shortie.oh I might be making the ol fairings out of glass this winter. the sport240 looks so much better with it. just look up pics of my boat to see it. good luck art ps I ran that boat for 19years now its in storage.

YES I am meeting with the glass guy, next week. to figure out a cost to make. baja did a chitty job on them build wise. I had mine repaired once, a friend put his elbow threw the side panel:eekdrop:. so I had mine re inforced .I paid baja 2000 grand for mine back in 1994. so I hope this guy can make them the same price or cheaper. so give me input on what prices are good and how cheap= materials used. good glass and vinlyester or apoxy cored with balsa or foam. or polyester ,wood core. baja did not core the sides. or no core but good glass or kevlar and apoxy or vinlyester. or polyester and glass. I will ask him to give me prices of all these set ups. what are you guys interested in?? I'll check back on this thread very few days to see what input we have.
|
oh I also made a new hatch with a pro stock scoop you can see in my pics. that I made with a friend. 1'' decolite balsa with ribs. it was like 30 pounds and you can walk on it. the one on my saber is balsa to but they over built it which is great that boat a rough water beast for a 28 footer. if anyone wants a 28/34/41 non step hull call saber, they only build boats if ordered. or repair boats . there all cored and sound like steel when you knock on the floors or bulkheads. hugh different from my 24. and I love my 24 over any of the 24x7 boats. my friend couldn't hang with me in the rough over 70 in his SB24. well that enough blah. I'll watch the thread. Art:cartman:

Sorry for the delayed reply Art, I didn't have it setup to email me when someone replies to my threads. Any new developments with the glass guy?
