Hello from Biloxi, MS
Just wanted to say hello to all, just bought a 2000 Baja 252 Islander. Been out of boating for awhile cant wait to get back on the water. Anyone else down here on the gulfcoast let me know.

We live in Birmingham but go down to the Gulf Shores / Orange Beach area a couple of times a year with the boat. Also a 252 Islander (you'll love it). Been wanting to head over into the sound. If you discover a good hotel/condo with day slips for rent over there let me know. We could ride over, spend the night and return the next day. Have fun and see you on the water.

Dan sounds good Ill keep my eye out for one, let me know when you plan your next trip. I have to get out and learn the waterways around here.

Welcome. Lots of info and great people here.

Baja25SST also lives down there and boats all the time in that area. Look him up. Unfortunatlely we've been trying to hook up for a year now and have not made it all work. Perhaps next summer is the time.

I have a 272 baja in Gulfport we took out about a dozen times this year. New to fast boats, had fun but probably won't be out again till March, broke a gear in the outdrive.

Welcome to the offshore site. This site has helped me alot. The guys on here have taught me alot about my boat and the things i need to do to improve it or change it. I too just recently bought my bigger baja. I have a 1997 24 ft outlaw sst 502 mer ho procharged. These guys have steered me in the right direction about things for my boat.

Info on Gulfport
Nice to see another Baja in Gulfport I recently picked up an
H2X. I was stationed there for 6 years I had a ski boat and a Jet ski. I will save you some time here since alot of the locals in that area sport boring fishing boats and have no clue about intelligent life if that makes sense. It is kind of funny on weekends you'll see a center console with two seats packed with like 10 college girls I never understood it being from New York. Here are the top spots in that area it is a pretty good time for boaters. 1) Gulfport Lake off airport rd by the sewage plant is a good launch spot, never busy, free, and easy with no currents and docks to walk the boat off the trailer. 2) "The Dock" is a nice bar and has pretty good food it's a straight shot accross from the Gulfport lake launch. 3) Grasshoper Island is a little island down past the Seaway you follow the waterway around to the left before you go under the cowan lorraine bridge and it's on the left. Boats fill up the beach there pretty quick on the weekends. 4) straight up the river from Grasshoper is another beach usually alot more packed then Grasshoper it aint a bad place to chill. 5) Past Grasshoper if you follow that river and go under the Interstate you will come to Orangutangs or the "Prop Stop" they have good drinks, pool tables. A lot of these names are locally made like Grasshoper Island so once you get out on the water just ask anyone they should be able to give you simple directions. My buddy John drives a black Moomba he is out religiously in that area. Google maps is a good tool also to map out where the restaurants and bars are. I will be back in that area January of next year so I will keep this post in mind. Last thing I will say is learn the marker bouys my first lesson in my new boat was even a few feet left of the red ones heading out and the bottom will find you quick. |

Ohh yeah figuring out this place pretty good, ran some poker run stops wth Heath last weekend had a blast... found bottom to just east of Popps Ferry haha... gotta love it. The Baja has ran flawless so no complaints here!! |
Hello from New Orleans, although a spend almost all my time on the water over by our place on the Bay St.Louis. I just picked up a 272 and hope to have it in the water in about a month.

Wazzz up! Been boating here for a long time, know the waterways and stops oh so well. The river and local stops got kinda old for the wife and I (no shortage of drama on a river). Sooo, local poker run in June, a trip out to Horn with the LA GCO club for the weekend, but otherwise to Horn maybe 2-3 times a year, and Orange Beach, PCola Fl, Ft Walton Beach Fl, and Destin it is about 10-12 times a season! White sand, blue water, nice to get out of town. "Quality over Quantity" is my plan. Just not into running the boat anymore just for the sake of getting it wet. Gulf Shores is just 2 hrs away! PCola over Gulf Breeze is just 2 hrs away! Ft Walton is just 3 hrs away! I still put 50-60 hrs on the boat a year.
