I had the same question, and it was explained to me this way.

Note your 24 outlaw, when you are in the cuddy the walls and floor is raw fiberglass of the inside of the boat, no gel, usually covered with glued on carpet.

A liner boat has a drop in gel coated shell that fits in the cuddy, snap in carpet, and if you took the interior out you would have a bath tub like appearance underneath. Easy clean and less moisture problems. You can basically hose out the cuddy of a liner boat. Like comparing an old school bathroom to a new one with a one piece tub/shower enclosure.

What it means for the rest of the construction I have no idea.

Thank you for the detailed info, i have a better understanding of it now. Is one better then the other for strength and relieability? I talked to dave at xt innovations and he told me that my 1997 24ft outlaw is a well built boat and it has the best dead rise that they constructed.

One questions, if you have any hull issues and you need to get to the structure of the boat in the cabin, won't it be a pain in the ass, if you have that top layer?

Pre-liner boats: has a stringer system glassed into the hull.

liner boats: the engine bay, cockpit and cabin are a single
piece that is bonded (by plexus) to the inner hull.

So which is better for performance and strength?

Performance....doesnt matter.


Strength.....stringer boats dont have a liner to crack;)

I guess for lasting and durability stringers are the way to go correct?

So i guess my boat would have stingers correct? I have a 1997 24ft outlaw sst. It does not have a snap in carpet any where in the boat. So it would be a pre-liner boat with stringers

is that a factory gel paint job, or is it a wrap? or a fresh coat of exterior paint, if you don't mind me asking?

Only the 30, 35 and 26 outlaws were liner boats. He has a 33OL, which is a stringer boat.

And he isnt catching air my friend, he is hanging the bow off his props and the power of 575SCI engines out back. Takes a lot of power, and some good drives to make an old school hull like that run less "wet".

Best it's ever ran was a tick over 94..on average 88-92

The 23 OL and the first 405 performance series were liners
too.
