Re: 1.36gear Ratio

Actually in a bravo the gear ratio is determined in the upper unit. Alpha's are controled in the lower.

Leese,
I am in PA too.. I may be able to help you when the time comes for the change.. A 1.50 ratio is common for most power boats. Unless they are very heavy or very light.

Btw: What year, power & size is the boat?? You may also benefit from a shorty lower.. :) Let me know if I may be of service.. :) Jamie / Lakeside

Re: 1.36gear Ratio

My 226es had a 1.36 in it, but I had the HP465 in it. I was running a labbed 23 Mirage @ 5800 RPM. It was a pig out of the hole & after I rebuilt the engine the cam I chose made it an even bigger pig, but it was still fast up top!
You might want to go over to the Powerquest forum. Powerquest used 1.36 ratios more than any other builder, probably.

The 25 Outlaw with a 496ho and bravo 1x does it have the 1.5 gear ratio?

Actually,
Alpha's lowers are all the same, the difference
in ratio's are in the upper gear set.

Regular bravo's are changed in the upper,
XR bravo's ratio changes are done in the lower.

I swapped out the 1.36's for 1.5's in my 91' Bandit,
everything improved. :D
