Nice looking Baja, don't see too many with 500's in them, love the graphics, I heard the 500's usually need to have the top ends done at 500 hours? Anyone know this boat? Looks sweet!

You get 500 hours out of any motor and it's time to go through it!

Maybe it was 200 hours? I remember hearing/reading something about the top end. Valve springs? Valves? Something like that. I remember it was 500's, although it might have been HP's not EFI's

The early 500 EFI motors had issues with valve spring failures. I think by 2005 they had that fixed. 460 hours on a 500 EFI motor is ready for at least a top end redo. As with any boat purchase, you need to have a survey of the hull AND motors. Have the motors checked out by a reputable marine engine builder. Hopefully the owner has already redone the motors. He has done a lot of boating in 6 years !!!

The way I remember it, it was the HP500 carb that had the valve spring issues. Don't recall hearing about the EFIs.

I agree, I thought the hours where exceptionally high for a boat that "new", but, hey Good! for him, wish I could rack up those kinda "on water" hours!

I guess it depends where those hours where spent, if 450 of the 460 hours where under 3K, that would be a much better scenerio than 450 Hours at 5K! LOL

The ad claims the bravo drives are "fresh" so, hopefully the motor has been gone through, sure is a sweet looking boat.

What kind of top speed would it run with 500"s? Its a big, heavy boat, so, its not gonna be ultra fast, but, probably still suprise a few people. Plus the "blue" motors look SO cool when you raise that hatch at the dock and everyone is expecting 496's [-:

An everyday top speed will be low to mid 70's. Will run a little faster under ideal conditions.

Thats about 75 hours a season...I would say thats average hours for that year....maybe even on the low side..

500 hp carb engines had the valve spring issue... because of cam and water reversion from exhaust so the springs would rust and break..thats why they wanted them replaced every 200-250 hours..

the 500 EFIs did not have that issue...but at 460 hours alot would depend on how the engines have been maintain..

Nice 36 for sure... Correct me if I am wrong but don't recall the 500 being an option in 05...went to the 525 I thought? If so then someone swapped the HO's out of it and put the 500's in it unless that was a pair of left over 500's in the factory?
