drive shower
What is a drive shower? And what type of situations calls for them.
|
Cools your drive
When your on plane the majority of your drive is out of the water and the only source of cooling is from the raw water going to your engine. The shower "showers"your drive with water to cool it. Any drive would benefit from cooling |

There are a couple different designs. Here's what I run. May not work if you have external steering. Just Google Bravo Drive Shower.

IMCO makes a very nice shower. Looks very nice & will clear any steering & tie bar or whatever.

The Simrek showers are nice imo and they work with IMCO and Latham steering. I like the fact that you don't have to drill the drive. A few have expressed concern about it not cooling the top cap, never a problem I've noticed. On the other hand, I've seen top cap style systems not being able to cool the rest of the drive. I guess it's a question about personal preference.

The need and effectiveness of a drive shower is debatable however....I don't run one. I have yet to see positive proof via a drive temp gauge of any significant drop in oil temperature. Also, there is a lot of water flying around back there at speed so the drive is not really dry.

I run a Simrek. If nothing else, it keeps the calcium deposits off the drive.
|
The fact that you see calcium deposition is proof there is enough heat to evaporate large amounts of water causing the white chalk accumulation.
