I didn't realize there was one.

I don't know anything about the Baja, but a great trick to drain the water down even more so than the bilge pump will draw out...
...is to stick a shop vacuum hose over the through hull fitting on the outside of the boat.

You either have a float switch which is stuck up, a water switch which has gone bad, or a bilge pump with a timer that turns on every few minutes to check for water, which has gone bad as well.

Thank u it def has one I hear it running once i disconect the battery it stops but turns right back on once I reconnect it. I will try the shop vac! It doesn't sound like there is any water down there when it's running.

Does anyone know how to access this front bilge? I've had mine come on a couple days with all the rain we've had and would like to check on how much water is in there. Does that compartment drain back to the bilge or is it completely seperate from the aft part of the boat?

On my old 272 and my current 302....front bilge is under the step down steps going into the cabin. There are a few screws in the carpet of the step down step you need to remove and it will then come loose and you can see down there. My front bilge on my 272 stopped working as well and had to replace it.

The front bilge on my 302 automatically cycles every few minutes.

The 232 seems to have a one-piece step into the cuddy, the top doesn't seem to come off. Anyone know this area of the boat? XT?

Bump - Anyone?

Anyone with help on the 232 front bilge? I walked out this morning only to hear it running w/o water coming out. Rained last night but had the cockpit cover on. I really want to find this pump and understand whats going on down there!

I'm in the middle of a project with the cuddy bilge pump on my 232. The Original cuddy bilge pump (under the cuddy step) went bad.
1 - I removed the pump to find it was screwed through a thin layer of fiberglass to a 3/4" thick piece of plywood attached to the bottom of the hull.
2- The screw holes looked dark and rotten so I started the process of cutting away the thin fiberglass layer over the wood.
3- I decided to remove the piece of wood with the intention of replacing it with plastic.
4- Possibly putting a thin layer of glass over the plastic.
5- Screw the new pump through the fiberglass and new plastic just as the old had been installed.

Is there any reason instead of the plan above, I couldn't marine epoxy the pump base right to the fiberglass hull bottom? Skipping the plastic and fiberglass work.

Update - Sat in the cuddy during the storms last night and am coming closer to finding where the water is coming from. looked under the cuddy floor and could see a small stream of water running down from as far forward as the cuddy floor went. Going to do some additional inspecting with the hose tomorrow.

Update - found the hole! As shown in the picture there is a small hole in the bottom of the anchor locker leaking down into the cuddy. I couldn't find it before because it was hiding under a bit of sand that allowed the water to slowly filter through. Once cleaned I could see the water flowing.

Any reason not to fill this with resin and seal it up for good? Only thing it there will be water in the bottom 1/2" of the anchor locker since its drain hole isn't at the exact bottom of the locker.

Hello from germny
I have also an Baja232 and work much on it. i see never, also not on other 232 a front bilge pump!!
There is only an tube from front bilge to the the room under the tank and then a tube from there to engine room!
in front cabin is only a plate 2 inch with holes on the foor. down under this is an 2-2,5 inch hole only!
I have make the an bigger cover on the floor hole with an 4 inch hole inside to get allway a arm in the front bilge!
Sometimes the tube in the ground from bilge is full with dust or same! Also same at my boat. There are some stuff from building the boat! I can now open all time the new hole with 1/4 turn from inside part of the new cover!
But biggest problem on all 232 ,i see was that the drain out hole from anchor case is to high to let all water out! Then is drains sometimes in the front cabin.
I make the bottom from achor-room a bit higher so alltime the water can go out at the drain hole!
If someone wants pics,i can send with email as it look i can not upload here.
Sorry for bad explain from me,but i dont know any right words!
Michael
