0-80 run 25 Outlaw

Video of getting to 80 pretty quick in 04 25 outlaw. Ran 85 with 4 guys and topped off with fuel. Have labbed 33 4 blade and need to go up. http://youtu.be/Cl_zhBEnps8

stlliberator 05-17-2012 10:30 PM

damn your going so fast that its making the camera wavy..:party-smiley-004:...what ya got for power??

WildRooster 05-18-2012 08:31 AM

Whats up with the speedo? That speedo is shooting up way fast.....and you were already showing 4600 rpm without having trimmed up at all. What power, that must be A LOT of power to run 5300 rpm with a 33 4 blade loaded down.

That is point of video haha. Need better camera, but that is Livorsi tattletale GPS speedo. Engine is 540 cubic inch running 7 lbs of boost on m1 procharger. Dynoed at 800hp/800tq. Running good, but going to try some different props this weekend. I think I will see 90, but don't want to sacrifice too much midrange. It is really fun from 30-85!

I gotta say.....THAT'S AWESOME! With acceleration like that, I wouldn't even give a crap about seeing 90mph! It's gotta be a blast as fast as that speedo climbed...

Hot Tub 05-18-2012 03:10 PM

What outdrive are you running?

IN25Outlaw 05-18-2012 05:21 PM

Imco sc. Lost spark this afternoon. Bummer.

indywhsle 05-20-2012 12:01 PM

Funny thing is that the rpm is at about 4500 before the speedo starts to go up.

Not sure what is funny. Does your speedometer go up before rpm's? I will make a better video. The boat is a rocket out of the hole and thought I would share video.

blaquebaja 05-21-2012 09:46 AM

Can you post some pics of your engine and outdrive set up. I also have 1998 25 Outlaw. I have a stock 502 that needs to be rebuilt. I`m hoping for 600 hp 600 tq from a 509. Hoping for 75-80 mph.

I am not questioning you at all. I had a 272 with a m3 procharger on a 502 and it was a rocket also. As far as the speedo, mine broke and I now have a digital gps and it starts reading instantly. I see you are in IN. Where do you boat? Maybe would could meet up sometime.

If you really use your boat for a boat and not just a once in a while GPS rocket you will get much more use out of the useable mid range than the sacrifices it takes for that last 5 MPH's.
Been there, done that ;)
80 w/5 guys in the boat is damned impressive.
You will also learn how many 90 MPH boats you'll out run w/your 80 MPH boat.
Big fan of the 25' Outlaws.

Here is what mine was. It made 724 hp and 774 ft-lb torque.

10-4 thought you were questioning also haha. I boat on Morse a lot out of convenience, but also go to Monroe. Usually get down to Dale Hollow and Cumberland a couple times a year.

With just 600HP 80 will be out of the question...75 is a very realistic number.

Nice! You have a good mechanic :)

My engine coming back out. Gear spun that controls distributor from cam, is why I lost spark. Between my dad and I, 3 boats out of service. What a great way to start boating season.

kennyo 05-23-2012 08:34 AM

My GPS speedo is slow to catch up also. That boat is hauling ass. I'm turning a 30 p right at 90 turning 5800. I want to up the prop but I'm still running bravo propshafts. Hate to twist it off:)

Whats your motor revving to, what drive ratio and where was peak power on the dyno? I have never needed a prop taller than a 32 pitch and my boat is even faster thats why I ask, Smitty

LIke this.:poopoo: That happened the fist day out after getting mine back from being labbed. I now have the 1.5" shafts but that prop is at the bottom of the lake. And yes it was a 32p bravo

you should get between 650 to 700 out of your 509. with the right builder. go with dart or heads, intake,or brodex plus custom 1050 carb, hyd roller cam 620 lift or more 112 or 114, port heads rect and get a oval intake and have it ported to rect. DEAN GELLNER Mr horsepower on here gets 700 doing these steps plus more. he built my 572 and I have the some of the parts to get my 650hp 509 to 700 from him.but it only has a few hours on it, pm me with any Qs

all about set up, there was a 525 ol did 81 gps, all he did was install the 3'' raised imco box ran a 28b1 at 5200. then they put a merc 600 plus a 1'' shortie with the box got 87 at 1st testing. these boats need a x of 17 to 18'' or prop height between 5 1/2'' and 4''. you get better handling and speed. my baja is much better at 5 1/2'' then stock. so far my saber 28 likes the 3'' and 4'' heights with the box, now its working on cg.psI ran out of prop testing my 24ol with 650hp and 83gps at 6000rpm. need a bigger prop to get the rpms down to 5600 to 5800= more speed.

I read about his results and I've spent alot of $$ trying to replicate it with no luck. There are a few out there that have had some success but most will never see 80 with under 650 HP.

That is a rocket! Way cool! Be safe...
