What is the going speed for a 24 OL w/ 300HP and presumably stock prop?? And what better prop to go with, w/o giving up too much down low?
Thanks, Chris

Hi 50's, maybe 60. Look for 21P, 22P, or 23P props. I have a 21P Bravo and a 23P 4 blade for mine.

Thanks for the followup Crossett... I am looking for a boat to be able to run in the 50s, low 60s without needing to be WOT. But a '98 24 OL thats overall decent shape with an asking price of $12k sounds like a good deal, no?

Sounds like a great deal. I wouldn't sell my 95 for 12k. The cruise speed on a 330 horse 24 OL is more like 35-40 though.

Thanks, Im good with a cruising speed of 35-40... Just was looking to be able to run 50-60 short of WOT for rare times Id like to run a bit open, but not full throttle...

Hope to hear back from him... Nothing yet.

Thought I should follow up on this one since I've made some head way and learned some interesting things. I'll start with I bought the boat from my father in law who has more toys than he knows what to do with and definitly looses track of whats what. Its a 98 24 with 200 hours on it and it supposedly had a 502. I paid very short change for it (13K). So after putting a new 23P+ on the boat and being out and only hitting 52 at about 4400rpm thats all she had. Completly lost as to what is going on I decided to check my casting #'s as it just didnt seem possible that a 502 with 200 hours on it could be down on power, and low and behold, I have a 454! Which I think now completly explains everything. At this point I think I need to try a 23 without the plus (extra cupping) and even probably a 21 and a 21+. Anyone have any suggestions? I dont think my motor is the mag motor, any way to tell for sure?

The mag is injected and the 330 horse is carbed.

I'm carbed. So that answers that. Any idea's on the prop? I'm thinking the 23+ is slowing me down. Time to start saving for a 500/525efi swap.

Everything i've read on here leads me to believe that a 23P is too much prop for a 330 horse 454. But, I can turn my 23P 4 blade at 4700 rpm if the conditions are right, so I don't really know.
