Depth gauge transducer

Was cleaning out the bilge and my depth guage transducer has come loose from transom.. should It be fastened to the very bottom of the bilge, lowest possible point? Does anyone know the correct location and the best way to fasten or does it need to be??

Found some old threads with the answer I need,,, epoxy the transducer to flatest spot in the bildge seems to be a norm.

best type of epoxy to use....to ensure thru hull reading?

in my 24 outlaw it had a flat spot in the hull already made for the transducer...mine was almost straight in from the water pump/impellar housing on that side of the motor. i suspect if you get in there and look around you will be able to see where it used to mount...clean that area really good and re-apply. i was told you needed epoxy specifically for mounting transducers? something about air bubbles wont allow it to read properly??
