Baja 236 owner upgrading to 38 special

How is the v-berth room on the 38 spl?

We're just listing our Baja 236 for sale and I hope to up-size to something more roomy for staying on board. I'll really miss the 236, we've had it for17 years and it is a beautiful boat, but it is time for something with more over-night room.

So, if there are any forum members who are 6'3" who can give reports, I'd love it!

Thanks,
GLBD

Nice big salon. Lots of room! Much taller than my 342. Only two things I would hate about a .38....towing it and filling it up with go juice.

I'm 6'2 and have to dip my head just a tad but it's not at all uncomfortable in the salon. There's quite a bit of elbowroom inside and I've never felt cramped in. I don't have any problem in the bed up front. The amenities the boat offers are great for overnighting, I just wish I had an onboard gen-set.
If you get one I'd suggest staying away from the 525SC powerplants, they're very thirsty when you get into the boost.

Welcome to OSO.

See ya,
Kelly

Thanks for the info.

I'll have to climb onto a 38spl. for sale somewhere with the Mrs and see how it feels. So far, we're liking a Powerquest 320SC that we just looked at; nice bit of room below, wider beam, decent speed...

Anyway, thanks again!

I have to admit that we're also looking at Baja's 290 and 340 motoryachts. Not near as cool as a 38 Special, but tons more room and still a Baja. Sure, they're just the family's nerdy third cousins, but still Bajas none-the-less.

Anyone got experience with either of these?

Now thats a jump! I thought when I went from a 212 to a 29OL I was stylin!
then 29 to 38 T/S, its hard believe the diff in the deck length from 29 to 38.
Rode in my old 29 the other day.
I will say still running like a top w almost 1000 hrs.

I just moved up from a 252 to a 342. and its a world of difference, a 38 is even more room, you will love it.

Sounds attractive. We'll have to crawl around on a 38 Special here and see if it'd have the room we want. We're kind of looking for some cockpit lounging area and decent down-below space for rainy days.

And here's mine..... http://www.boattrader.com/listing/19...-236-101808056

I just jumped from a 240 Sport to a 36 Outlaw. The room difference is night and day. I'm 6' 225 and have no problem moving about the cabin on the 36. My understanding is the 38 has even more headroom and should have a bigger bed. I doubt you will be disappointed in it. Good luck on your search.
