Help me with my problem/Battery charger/Refrigerator/Dead battery
I have some crazy gremlin in my boat that keeps giving me different fits.
Both perko switches set to off. Ship to shore plugged in. Battery charger on. Both cables from battery charger go into #1 perko switch. Checked both wires coming from battery charger have 12 volts from charger all the way to #1 switch. Refrigerator is turned on at panel. Refrigerator was on when I turned it on. Left that way for a few days. Come back. Battery #1 is dead, Frig not running. What is going on? How do I resolve? |
Charger leads should go to the same studs that has the battery cable that goes directly to the batteries pos. post..... not thru the switch that require the switch to be on to pass charging current thru.
Why did you turn off your switches with the fridge on? Are you using the charger to power your fridge w/o going thru the batteries? Turn your switches on when running any 12v equipment. A better understanding of how your switches are wired...... 1,2,common. is '#1 switch' the #1 stud on each switch, or a switch you are designating #1? |

Only the 110AC items will be powered with battery switches off. (Other than your bilge pumps and Mercathode system, those are always powered regardless of switch positions)
Is your fridge a DC only unit? |
